I was going to start this thread a couple months ago when I saw Stereolab, but I forgot. Tonight, I saw The Lemonheads in an outdoor venue in London (Sommerset House). They were great. The Lemonheads' lineup has been a revolving door and is basically a drummer and bassist playing with Evan Dando, so that's what I saw tonight. Even the ballads rocked--looks like Dando has gotten over whatever was in him when he released his solo album a couple years ago.
Best Song: "Confetti" from It's A Shame About Ray. Second-best might have been "My Drug Buddy."
Best Part: While Dando played solo tracks and new songs, they didn't wait until the end of the show or encores to play hit songs.
Taking Lemons and Making Lemonheads Moment: Dando and the bassist weren't exactly on the same page on the vocals for a cover of Neil Young's "Powderfinger", still, the cover rocked.
Hope for the Future: They played songs from their "forthcoming album." That would be the first new Lemonheads CD since 97, I think.
So that's the last show I saw. Stereolab before that was very good, and Jonathan Richman before that is always great--even if the knuckleheads in the venue do everything they can to spoil a good show.
What was your last show?
