mandingoi checked it and The Crying of Lot 49 out from the library just a couple of weeks ago. i couldn't get through Crying, which is Pynchon's shortest novel, so i've given up on even trying to get through that other behemoth. i'll wait for the 5 hour David Lynch movie
Crying isn't bad. It has some moments of surrealist amusement. Gravity's Rainbow has a few of these moments too, they're just buried in the longest fucking book I've ever read.
I shit you not, it took me over 10 years to read that motherfucking monstrosity. Someone should make a "Best of Thomas Pynchon" anthology where they excerpt the 100 funny pages out of the 12,432,556,344 he's written.
