OK, I'll play along since I seem to be back from my absence.
I've always respected Crabby as a prolific and often cerebral comic generator. I do find him to be egomaniacal and condescending, but usually in an amusing way. He also tends to come down on annoyingly idiotic noobs much the same way as I would were I not so lazy.
He is also willing, despite his persona, to reevaluate his opinions on other users. For example: Crabby was the second person to rate and comment on me. His statement was something to the effect of "I don't see what all the stars are about", or something to that effect. And, in his defense, he was right. Most of my early comics really sucked. I wasn't making them for general consumption, they were based solely on inside jokes that maybe a dozen of my friends knew and were made for those people's benefit.
But I posted them in RMDC anyway.
At some point he changed his comment (and maybe his rating...) to: "Every good american is at heart an angry american."
Which is much nicer I thought.
(for some reason after I copied and pasted Crabby's quote, I can't get the text back to normal. So the rest will be in bold because of for some reason)
In summary what I'm saying is that Crabby often is a smug, sneering, caustic and contrary prick. But he's our smug, sneering, caustic and contrary prick.
Bottom line is whether you love em or hate em, he makes SC a more interesting place to be part of. This doesn't mean I may or may not slap his 160 lb. ass if we were to go drinking together.
On the other side of that coin, if we were to go drinking together and someone else slapped him, I'd whup their monkey ass.
He was mine first.
