Help! My friend Silver is gone.
What do you mean he is gone?
He was dancing in the fire so I went to get a camera, when i came back there was only some hot liquid where he was standing.
Why was he dancing in the fire?
Because I had dared him to.

Your friend Silver, melted. This means that due to extreme heat, your friend changed states from a solid to a liquid.
What exactly happens when something melts?
So basically, when a substance melts, the particles in the solid vibrate so fast that they break free from their fixed positions. Therefore they turn into a liquid.

Is there a way I can brink back my friend Silver?
Yes. Just shape teh liquid into his shape. When the liquid dries he will be a solid again.

Today we will be learning about the changes between Liquid and Gas.
Yay! That sounds exciting!
Vaporization that takes place only on the surface of a liquid is called evaporation. Can you give me an example of Evaporation?
Oh, I know, a shrinking puddle. Energy from the ground and the sun allows the molecules to escape into the air, or evaporate.
Another change is called boiling. During boiling, water vaporizes both at the surface and within the liquid.
OOH. Like when my mom is boiling water on the stove to make something tasty.

The last change is called condensation. Condensation is the change in state from a gas to a liquid. During condensation, the particles in a gas lose enough thermal energy to form a liquid.
Like dew on a foggy morning.
Now we will talk about changes between solid and gas.
Like Sublimation?
Exactly. Sublimation occurs when the surface particles of a solid gain enough energy that they form a gas. The transformation skips the liquid state as they from a gas.
