	Hey Potato, Do you know what a Richter scale is?


	Hi Peach, No I don't what is it?


	So its an instrument used to measure the magnitude or size of an earthquake.


	Ohhhh cool!! So what are the different magnitudes of an earthquake?


	Well less than 1.0 to 2.9 is a micro earthquake and is not generally felt by people but is recoreded on the instruments


	So an earthquake could be happening right now and we wouldn't know

	Thats right. When its 3.0-3.9 its minor and is felt by many people but there's no damage


	Are there more sizes?


	4.0-4.9 is light and is felt by all with minor breakage of objects


	So what about 5.0-5.9?


	Its moderate and there's some damage to weak structures


	Okay I'll try to guess 6.0-6.9. Its strong and causes moderate damage in populated areas?

	7.0-7.9 and 8.0 and higher?


	Right again!! 7.0-7.9 is major and causes serious damage over large areas even loss of life and 8.0 and higher is great and causes severe destruction and loss of life over a large areas
