A confused guest at a church decides to ask a priest about what seems to be a set of double standards set for a priest and the members of the church.
People would be less likely to strive to live like Jesus if they knew a priest couldn't.
So your saying that everything you do wrong should be hidden because your a priest?
Well, yes. A priest is supposed to be holy, set apart from world.
So you don't commit any sins? I thought christians were meant to strive for perfection. No human being can actually be perfect!
If people see a priest is imperfect they will begin to think that their religion is a lie and they won't want to follow it.
But hiding faults of character and pretending to be perfect is a lie. .

A medical patient has a run in with Jesus.
Hey man, why so glum?
I need to have about five medical procedures, but apparently my health insurance will only cover half of one.
Oh, thats a bummer. Sorry about that.
Yeah, I mean, maybe I should confront the doctors and as them what you would do? Do you think you could help?
Well, thats really not my department. I could walk on water, and maybe help if you were blind, but the healthcare industry is beyond repair.
Oh, ok, I guess a miracle won't even help in some situations.

Jen meets an expert on Middle Eastern culture while.
So you grew up in Connecticut but your an expert on the Middle East?
Yes, I am. I have read countless books about it, and I went to the best University.
Hmmm, well what do you know about the Middle East exactly?
I know that every book I've read says it is a violent, and backwards place in need of help from Western civilzations.
So, have you ever been there, or read anything about it that wasn't from a Western text book?
Well, why would I go there when I've already learned about it and I know that its a violent and backwards place?

Tommy is reading his letter from the church, to Timmy.
So this letter they sent says I have to hit myself with a hammer, or I will be going against God's will.
Well they say its the "right" thing to do.
Yes but how do they know what is "right"?
Because they say it is. They told me its Gods will, if God feels we should do something its right...
Timmy realizes that no one really knows what God wants and that the idea of God can be used to make people agree to do things they wouldn't normally do.
Ok, then. This is going to leave a mark.
It just occured to me that they might not no what God thinks, and this could be part of their own agenda, but the upside is you know that hammer works...

I have a place to sleep and food to eat.
After thinking about his situation Henry begins to wonder how fortunate he really is.
I just have to choose between paying my medical bills or not so that I can afford to pay for a place to sleep and food to eat.

Two people are having a conversation about western culture spreading through out the world.
We wouldn't be here today if it weren't for manifest destiny.
Well is that such a bad thing?
Well yes America might not exist in the way it does now. There would be no Walmart, or Mcdonalds.
Maybe it really isn't the best thing for western culture to spread to other places.
But we have to expand so we can build our businesses in other countries.
Those countries existed without our culture. Maybe they don't need it, or even want it.

Two people are debating whether or not a group was given a choice to convert to a religion or not.
I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation. People were forced to convert to a religion even though they didn't want to.
Well they weren't exactly forced. They were given a choice.
Yeah, to convert or face a punishment.
Yes, but thats it. All they had to do was convert to the religion they were told to convert to.
If the only other choice is punishment the religion was forced on them.
Yes but it is in the name of religion and ultimately God, which means it must be right.

Two students are having a conversation about history class
It seems like we keep having to listen to the same things in history class each year.
Yeah it's like we just read the first half of the book over and over.
I might actually listen if we could learn something different.
I might actually remember what the teacher says to us if it was something new.
The students realize that part of the reason the same subjects are taught in history each year is because of state tests.
I wonder why they teach the same thing over and over.
Maybe it has to do with the same questions being on state tests each year.

A student is unable to relate to his teahcers lesson.
I hear what the teachers saying but I can't really apply it to my life.
He begins to wonder how much a middle age white man can know about black history.
I mean its just that hes an old white dude and hes trying to teach me about black history.
The student realizes that while the teacher may have book smarts, he couldn't have experianced what he was teaching about first hand.
Was he black at some point? Maybe thats it.

A student begins to question if a text book should be in the same category as other books.
Im sick of these so called "books" we get for class. There is a difference between a text book and an actual book.
Its just that I thought a book was supposed to be something you could read and retain information from.
But when its a thousand plus pages of boring print and I can't tell whats true from whats not then its hard to care.

Two people discuss a babies future and what is needed for him to be a success.
I have alot to do now that I have this kid.
Like buying diapers and baby food?
Well actually I need to start looking for preschools for him.
He can't even walk yet, let alone go to school.
Well if I don't get him into a good preschool he won't get into a good grade school, then he won't get into a good college, and then he won't be able to get a job!
Oh, I see.

Two Customers in a book store are having a conversation about the treatment of Native Americans in the United States
We did them a favor by giving them land reservations.
After we saw to their displacement?
Yes, but by giving them land reservations we made up for that.
Assigning them living quarters in the worst areas in America hardly makes up for anything.
So your saying it didn't help the Native Americans at all?
Well we've only been killing the Native Americans since we first inhabited America, so I would guess no.

Sally and Bob are having a converstation about a misterious desire to buy a product.
I'm not sure why i bought this. I really didn't need it. It just seems like something kept telling me to get it.
Maybe you saw it in a commercial?
They begin to wonder if it is a form of product placement thats making Sally want to buy the product.
Nope, but i did see someone in the complex i live in with it, and in the line at the store, and at the library.
Hmm, thats strange do you think the company pays those people to do that.
In the end they both decide it can't be true...but is it?
Like some extreme form of product placement?.....Nah
Yeah, I agree what kind of company would do that?

Sally and Sue are having discussion about Sues amazing life style.

Yep, we sure do. Its great...really.
Sally soon realizes that Sue's life is not as perfect as it seems.
I mean I just don't get how you guys do it?
Well, we have a few credit cards and a lean on the house.
Sue tries to assure Sally that her situation really isn't that awful.
Oh.
Its really not as bad as it sounds. I mean the average American is over ten thousand dollars in debt and so far we are only at eight!

I had a discussion with a coworker about religion and politics.
So you feel that religion and politics sholdn't be seperate?
Its not really an issue of should or shouldn't.
When asked if they should remain seperate I recieved an interesting answer.
Then why do they run together?
Well people want a politician with morals.
The interviewee believed that religion and politcs get combinded because of morals...
You can't have good morals without religion?
Well its just that many morals are based off of religion they sort of go together.

I had two people discuss the combining of relgion and politics. One was a conservative one was a liberal both were students, and young adults.
Well i have a conservative outlook on politics but i still feel that religion should remain seperate from the government.
I agree.
They agreed on the thought that religion and governent shold remain seperate.
Often times a conservative politician who is running for office will focus too much on an issue that is religious.
I feel that when religion starts to cross over into the government it begins to influence the choices that are made for our country.
In the end of the discussion they had diferent reasons for why religion should remain seperate from government.
I think that when religion becomes to much of an issue then it hurts their chances for winining.
Well when relgion becomes the basis for dessicions made by the government certain rights can be taken from the citizens.

A discussion takes place between and interviewer and interviewee about violence in religion.
Do you feel that religion promotes violence?
Yes i do, i mean since the beginnif of its excistance violence has been involved in religion.
Do you think that maybe the fact that God is involved makes people feel as if violence is justified? Why or why not?
I feel that a group will naturally go to the extreme, and with something as big as religion its bound to happen.
In conclusion they realize that religion seems to bring victory and thus is brought into violent situations... and seems to promote violence as well.
Were you aware that the cross was used as a symbol for vitory in war? What do you think of this?
Well it makes sense, i mean ultimately the person who has a greater power on their side such as God, they will win....right?

Two people are having a discussion about the violent way some religious people approach others..
So native Americans were forced to convert to christianity?
Yes, often times they would have to convert and then they would be killed.
Well, at least they....
At least they were given the chance to convert to a religion they felt was wrong before they were murdered, in the name of the religion they were converting to?
It sounds like you think they were killed because of this religion.
Thats because they were. They were punished because they wouldn't convert, killed if they didn't, and were killed in many cases after they did.

Two people discuss the new type of church, the mega church.
So did you know that some churches offer free daycare, as well as food and beverages?
Really? Wow...maybe i will go there instead of my church, do they have a dry cleaning service?
Is that how you feel about it? I mean i thought that churh was supposed ot be for worship?
I suppose so, but a church with food and daycare sounds so much more convenient..
They debate about weather or not the attractions to a mega church are bribes or not...
So it's the convenience of a mega church that attracts you? Doesn't that seem like bribery?
Well its just a way to get people to the church, so they will become members, and be able to worship.. I think.
