Greetings, ladies and gents. jes_lawson here, with the first half of the amazing joint Comic Contest 224.

mmyers and I have just been speaking on #stripcreator, and we've united our comic talents (in about 5 minutes) and come up with what we hope is a good one.

He'll be replying to this post shortly with the main rules and theme for you to follow, but as a taster, my half of it is here:

  • You've got to involve the number 26 somewhere in the strip. Some of you will know or can guess why ;-)

That's all from me, so I hand you over to the Arnold Schwartzenegger to my Danny DeVito, mmyers...

Hey, hey. This contest is all about birth, in particular, twins!

Once upon a time, two twins got seperated at birth and are going to find there way back together, with your help. You're going to tell us how they got back together.

Extra super brownie points if you get together with another SC person and write both sides of the journey. It's not mandantory (you can dance by yourself, but it looks cooler if you have a partner) but if you know someone who would like to do it with you *ahem*, give 'em a call. Or maybe make a friend out of someone you don't know. Jes_l and I are trying to bring folks together for the holidays. Have some egg nog. After we've brought you together, though, then we'll rip you apart by judging the winning team seperately (that is, if a tandem wins). If a single wins, we'll just rip you apart. It's cool.

Don't forget the number 26.
Series are welcome, but let's try to keep it under ten comics (all brand spankling new) because we do have lives and tequila and absynth to drink.

Judging for this piece is Thursday, December 18. That gives you time to get together, work out a plan, get in a fight, break up, get back together, make a comic or two, then fight again.

Now get out there and find someone's other half.

Jes, did I forget anything?

Looks OK to me. In fact, it's like you read my mind. It's like we've got some kind of psychic Gemini Factor thing going on.

I stole that robot as "i" idea from Big Evil Dan, by the way. So maybe that satisfies the tandem thing is some dirty, non-consensual kind of way.

Boyohboy, there were some really good entries out there and don't think we didn't appreciate it. Actually, jes_l and I had very different choices for #2 and #3 picks but when the time came, we came together like twins on the Montel show and were in full agreement on who the top entry was. Without further hoop-la, we give you your winners, twin daughters from different mothers, little kitty and attitude chicka. Great series, gals.

Now's the sad part, splitting you two up and sending you on your way. Without any further hub-bub, your grand winner is...man, I can't split you two up. You guys are cozier than two new born kitties. So what happens next is in your capable hands (or paws). Jes and I found a way to make it work and I'm sure you will too.

Congratulations and the future is yours'.

Yep, even though we're twin sons of different mothers, mmyers and I had different ideas on our top 3's so I guess honourable mentions need to go to our other nominees in our respective top 3's but not before big props to everyone. I don't think I've run a contest before where every single entry was good. Congratulations y'all.

Honourable mentions:

  • Matchbook_Romance & Inflatable_Man
  • KevinKeegansPerm & MikeyG
  • kaufman
  • BigEvilDan

But uber congratulations to joint winners attitudechicka & little_kitty, we both thought yours was the sure-fire winner.

Like my partner-in-crime just said, what you do with CC 225 is now up to you.

Good luck.
