Does anyone remember who authored the classic one where it's gabe_kovacs (the gabe wearing the shirt that says "the end is nigh") in three panels with the apocalypse1 background, and in the third panel he says "So, it's an old shirt."?

That one's my fave, and I want to find it.

Wow, that's cool! Say, could you find me the one about sesame street where the Exploding Dog guy in the trashcan is Oscar the Grouch?

My guess is that he is a bit of a perfectionist and doesn't want to make it public until he can be bothered to get it work properly.

There seem to be a number of them, so here they are in no particular order (except that I'm putting the one with the punchline "God damn mother fuck! Shut the fuck up!" first):

And there you have it.

Thanks! The one I was refering to was acually gabe's... I was hoping I'd be able to find that one again. The first time I saw it, I wasn't really on these boards, and I haven't even put a dent in half of everyone's collections.

You know, Brad, if you use target=_new instead of target=_blank, each url would open in the same new browser instead of spawning its own separate window.

I personally think this would be preferable, as each time an IE browser is spawned, there's a whole other chance of Microsoft weirdness happening.

Just a suggestion.

I have to vote against this. If every link opens in the same new window, then when I want to open a separate window for each -- which for me is almost always -- I can't do it.

For what it's worth, I'd prefer that there was no target attribute set at all. That's the only way we can open links in the same window, if we want to. And if we want a new window, we can right-click the link. I wish every webmaster would do things this way. It allows the user the greatest degree of choice, and doesn't presume to know what I want to do with my links and browser windows.

I think all of the stripcreator links to the outside are "target=". I generally don't specify anything as the target.

If people really want it changed I can do it. But generally when I read a site with a lot of links, I prefer to open tons of windows and then read and close each one individually. But maybe I'm crazy.

On the times that I want to open links in the same window, I just drag them from one window to the other.

I'm with Brad on this one. I cannot remember ever wanting to follow a link from the forum and leave the forum completely. Generally I will look at the referenced page and either comment on it in the forum, or carry on reading other threads. Besides, you can open in the same window with very little trouble - right-click, copy link location (or copy shortcut, depending on your browser), then use Ctrl+V to paste the URL into your current window.

Not much to it.

To open in a new window, you can right click and select "Open in new window". I hate when it keeps spawning new windows, because the possibility of the system crashing is increased every time. My work system is one of the ones where the probability of this happening is higher.

If all the links open in a second window, that's fine. It's just that one extra window. If every link opens in a brand new window, it gets cluttering. Give the viewer the option of opening in a brand new window.

Again, that's just my opinion.

I'd prefer if it all stayed in the same window. No strong reason, other than this is how I'm used to surfing.

What would be really studly, of course, would be if Brad could set up a preference box in our user profiles :-)

When I click a link, I want Jeannie to come out and give me a lap dance.

Here's an easier way -- drag-and-drop a link into your browser's address bar.
