Finally put new characters by Kaddar online that I had been lazy about. They are: afro, afro-g, geek-videogame, nun and pig.

ivy I think your character is essentially the same as my character only.. with a golf club and recoloring. I doubt anyone could actually use the golf club as a joke in a strip considering few sterotypical golfers wear what that character is wearing. So what we are left with is an odd version of the hippy that nobody will use because she has a golf club in her hand.

Whaddya mean nobody will use? Other than me being the obvious, there's tons of potential for Ivy crossovers! What if you need a character to beat another with a blunt object in a strip! Thousands of uses! Besides, it could fit in the forumusers category with all the other people.

*goes to good-naturedly sharpen her golf club*

I can think of a lot of uses for the golf club.

And not all sexual uses either.

yes in the forumusers group perhaps, but perhaps someone other than me (haha) should make another forumuser set of characters for completeness.

I'd use her character for my strips if she came with and without a gold club.

Also, people can use it for characters playing golf.

I know we can't please everyone and add every artist's creation (hell, I know my bar room entrance isn't gunna be picked, though I spent hours on it *shrug*), but the character does have a valid place. I, myself, have many uses for it, and unlike NightOwl, ALL of mine are sexual :-D

I have a quick question for all of y'all creators. What program do you use to draw the pictures? I've tried to duplicate the same niceness of the drawing. I just can't. I know I stink, but jeez.

I suck too. Mostly what I do is altering existing pics for the PV contests, etc. Though when I first started drawing my Lack of Oxygen comic series back in '94 I used Corel Draw 4 which was like $400 then and probably completely useless on the new systems now. Now I use PhotoShop 4.0 LE (cause I can't afford the full version) and it has enough gadgets to make me happy. And it's free. Though they stopped offering it after 5.0 which sucks cause it's such a great program.

A lot of scanners come with Adobe PhotoDeluxe which is like a toned-down version of PhotoShop. Still a great program.

Those are what I use when I draw my LoO comics...when I'll finish them is another thing...

Oh yeah, I also bought a Wacom tablet and stylus when I have to do detailed stuff or anything that requires me to hold my hand like I'm writing with a pen.

I use Adobe Illustrator. Photoshop is good for editing photos, but it sucks for drawing.

While I myself would probably never use the character (unless it was part of the rules in a Comic Contest) I still think there's a case for it to be included, I mean how many uses can anyone have for a guy in a Hawaiin shirt and a kilt?

That being said, I'm definitely on the side of more backgrounds rather than new characters, I tend to still use the same characters that were available when I first joined this site. The only new art I actually use are specific characters, like a choirboy, the policeman etc. More generic slightly different humans isn't what we need.

The only backgrounds I really use are the grey and purple things.

I use it for drawing... the BGs I submitted were made with it. I've never had the chance to use Illustrator though.

Illustrator uses vectors, which means that things can easily be tweaked, you can resize them as much as you want and then file sizes are super small. Takes a little bit of practice getting used to how to manipulate them, and what each tool does.

in retrospect there is no character on the phone, is there?

I was thinking blue, blonde, and geek would make nice characters for phone versions.

but oh well, I won't make any more characters unless brad feels he'd like 'em.

Also, I use PSP for like, everything.

I know I would like phone versions of blue, blonde, brunette and red.

While I could probably condense this down to one strip, here's how it went in real life:

(On phone)
Me--I need you to come over
Her--why?
Me--I just do
her--tell me
me--just come over
her--is this going to be bad news?
me--yes
her--well, that's a shock
me--do you want to come over and talk?
her--i'd rather not get dumped to my face, lets just leave it at that
me--i'll be here
(click)

We haven't spoken since.
