biped April 25, 2004 10:30 AM	I think that in the last panel, the boy should've said, "What happened? You turned me from a Caucasian into an African-American!", or, "Hey! It wasn't my intention to change from one race into a different one! Why did you do that?" Then you would have fully explored the comic potential of the situation.

Did he go home and change before going into the machine, or did the machine somehow alter them along with his genetic makeup? You could've had him saying something like, "Hey! That was my favorite shirt!", or, "28? What does that signify, Professor?"

Yes, but you can transcend those limitations with a simple narrative caption, such as, "Note: due to circumstances beyond my control, the shirt worn by one of the characters in the following comic will change unexpectedly into another shirt in the third panel. Please do not allow this to confuse you or detract from your enjoyment of this comic."

It's wierd how we are so uniquely wired to see things differently. As for me i loved that the character had this extreme change. Without the words it gave me the opportunity to deal with the shock value and imagine what would take place in the situation. It also set it up for another cartoon to continue the story line. i would have hated if he spelled out he was different i.e., black/different shirt, etc. That was part of the edge to this cartoon and it's fun for ppl to fill in the blanks just so there is enough info to do that. i believe there was and if i could have rated this i would have give this cartoon very high marks.
