Dogged determination and equilibrial determinism creates pathos for the needy. Obey my dog.

This comic makes slightly more sense than my earlier work. That is a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon your perspective (take me for instance: I'm actually quite the fan of incoherent schitzoid ramblings).

Anyway, let me know what you think

It's not really my cup mate. Not since I stopped drinking shit anyway. Ha ha, nah seriously I don't like it buddy. And I think you meant to say 'shill' instead of 'shrill'.

Check this one out... it actually has a point. It probably won't make you laugh out loud, but if you can't relate to it I don't think you're necessarily humanoid.

Raptor piss warm meow mix in a strawberry shortcake bowl, d'ya feel lucky kid? Bob Moog.

In response to the above guy... people didn't appreciate Andy Kaufman either. People didn't necessarily think he was funny. Everyone today thinks he's a genius... but what was so funny about sitting down and reading an entire novel to a crowd until everyone deserted the joint or they all fell asleep? He freaking got voted off SNL! My comics are in the same vein. They're performance art, such that the joke is sometimes on the reader. If you don't like them, well, I guess I did my job and got a laugh at your expense. So thanks!

See, if you had explained in the first place that you were here to laugh at people for not laughing at your comics instead of actually trying to get people to laugh at your comics, it would have saved a lot of confusion.

Well, then I'm sorry to tell you that I did enjoy the line, "That dude's like totally nailing his head or something! I have FOUND GOD!!!"

The rest of it was pretty bad, though, so have no fear.

'What's up' would have made me chuckle audibly if i wasn't so inhibited. I don't see how it fits the theme though dude 'cos that strip happens in real life all the time.

You're right, "What's up?" doesn't fit the theme at all. It's supposed to be an actual comic, instead of performance art/abstract conceptualism parading as such.

To Biped: just because those other ones weren't necessarily meant to be found "ha ha, I wet my pants" funny by the reader, they were meant to be enjoyed in an abtract, "That's pretty weird" kind of way. If you've seen Eric Fensler's GI Joe PSA's on fenslerfilm.com, you'll know what I mean. If not, I recommend checking them out. They're great.

Unfortunately, unlike the classic GI Joe PSA's, the format of the comic strip doesn't lend itself as easily to random impressionism, since you can't get the full effect of different voices saying random things and there's no movement. Still, that's more what I've been going for. In order to enjoy them, you have to empty your mind of everything you've come to expect of comics and just enjoy them for what they are. There are no real punchlines, there is no real main idea or theme... they're just brushstrokes that go nowhere but still have a certain merit. But the best part is that 90% of people won't get them... and that too is half the beauty.

This is Strip Creator, not an Andy Warhol art gallery. Give the elitism a rest. It's boring. And that's really Dcom's department anyway.

Well ya hit the mark with the "That's pretty weird" part, but ya missed with the "enjoyed" portion. Oh wait, that's not pretty weird ... what's the term I'm looking for ...? Oh yes, uninteresting (kinda like my comics)

Um ... me thinks you are over analyzing this a tad bit, sparky.

My mind's already empty. I'm an idiot and I still didn't like your comics. Actually I take that back, I liked your first one. The second one blew Boinky (that's almost a compliment, except that Boinky's penis smells like rasberry sherburt)

How's that workin' out for you ... being clever ...?

Normally, I like random absurd comics (to a point). But these are too random. Lose some of the randomness. And any attempt at pretending to be clever is just going to piss people off.

You asked for it. And don't start whining at the flames you get. You asked for comments, and most of them prolly will be bad.

I like random comics, but only when they're absolutely insane and make no sense whatsoever.

You know, stuff like this:

I'm an Andy Kaufman fan, and I got what he was doing, so if I don't fully appreciate your comics it isn't due to my inability to comprehend. He wasn't into random impressionism or schizoid ramblings -- he had more of a plan than that when he got onstage. Standing there during the "Mighty Mouse" theme song, waiting to lip-synch his one line, was funny, and so were his foul-mouthed, audience-mortifying rampages as Tony Clifton. He didn't just stand there going "motor pool fester potato squirrel muffins" for five minutes. I still think you can use your knack for wordplay to make more interesting comics, but if you're satisfied with the way they are now and don't think they need to evolve, then I don't think you're challenging your imagination.

Biped, you're probably right, over time my comic style will probably change. All the same, I am pleased with the ones I've done so far... for what they are. That's not to say I don't have room to grow... just that if I made some people scratch their heads and say "huh?" or made someone laugh over something like "eggplant salad steroid bagpipes" because they just couldn't see how anyone could come up with that, that's all I intended to do with them. Kind of like how Andy made the people at home get up out of their chair, mess with their TV antennae, and try to figure out why their screens were going all fuzzy.

At the same time, as much as I think some of Andy's ideas about pissing off or confusing the audience is applicable to comic strips, I'm not necessarily limiting myself to that. Like you said, Andy never just went off on schizoid rants. I'm not straight up just trying to rip off Andy Kaufman, you know. One has to develop one's own style. So I'm trying to combine a bunch of different factors into something no one's ever done before... maybe I'm failing at that, but that's the attempt. To combine feigned contempt for audience the with random shards of things that may or may not make sense, but when taken together are somewhat beautiful in their chaos. That is the central theme I'm trying to convey, really. Nothing makes sense. Existential nothingness. Randomness conveying only one meaning... there's no meaning to anything, and ultimately nothing makes any more sense than the randomness of my comics. And once people realize that, maybe they'll stop working 17 hour days trying to kiss ass or sucking the boss's dick for a promotion. Maybe they'll just learn to live for the moment and be happy, without worrying all the time. Basically, it's my feeble attempt to change the world by conveying the emptiness of what we see as having meaning (money, fame, power, sex). Because that system only leads to people being used and exploited by others... there's always some young stupid girl who's trying to get ahead, and there's always some old perverted boss who will take her panties off if she lets him. And she'll let him about every time if she thinks she has something to gain... so she can buy more clothes to attract better men with more money. Don't you see how pointless it all is? But it makes sense to them. To me, my comics are a metaphor for that phenomenon... getting caught up in something that makes no sense at all, and acting like it's the most important thing in the world.

And perhaps you see the subtle irony in my explanation? It's all part of the theme. For those who have accused me of being mentally handicapped, I agree. I am just a dumb ox, like Saint Thomas Aquinas. Pay me no mind.

I'm no sure Andy Kaufman's contempt for the audience was feigned. I think he was a brilliant guy, but had little tolerance for other people's garbage. He had a major talent when it came to pissing people off, and I loved that about him.

The most brilliant thing he did is wanting to create that show where the one episode is flipping over itself as if your V-Hold was fucked up. But it wasn't, and people would be going crazy adjusting their v-holds, trying to fix it. That IS genius.
