Even though most hate it now, it was killer at the time. I remember my first post on this forum being something like, "I love the All your Base comics you've all done. Here's one I did." Ah, memories.

I can't take credit for that. I think AYB just sort of swept over the internet like a tidal wave, and we got splashed. People were already using it in comics since before I was here, since almost the first day really.

Wirthling unwittingly started the "A nation perplexed" series (which I still love) by writing a comic which insinuated that I knew what was up with the phrase, which wasn't entirely false. I don't know why he thought I would know; maybe I was saying it a lot on the message boards, or maybe it was in my sig. For a while, my sig linked to here, but that was later.

ObiJo October 1, 2001 12:30 PM	That nation perplexed thread in where my first post is. I went on about Brady Bunch a little incessantly, but other than that, not the worst first post I've seen. Except for the part where I called you all Ass Rangers, insulted your mothers, and told you to read my comics or I'd dick whip you. I could've done without that.

Believe it or not, even after the phrase became the victim of overuse, I still thought some of you guys did some damn fine AYB strips.

What you say!

All Your Base has never stopped being funny to me. I'd still be making comics about it if I could think of any new material. I think that when most people say "it's not funny anymore", what they really mean is "all the jokes have been made already". Humor doesn't just stop being funny, but it can get worn-out. It's too bad that that happened in this case.

What I don't get, though, is the people who rushed to say "it's over, stop talking about it" the second AYB showed up in some place like FoxTrot or The Onion. As if things are only funny when the "mainstream" doesn't know about them. They were like people shushing you in a theater because you were laughing at a comedy.
