Here's one I like, though I think it makes the reader work too hard.

My very first comic. It wasn't supposed to be "funny," in the laugh out loud sense. It was supposed to be introspective.

evil_d: that wasn't too much work. i only had to read it twice (:

drexle: "introspective" isn't the word you're looking for. try "bummer."

The two are synonymous with me. ;)

i know what you mean; as a general rule, my inner monologue resembles "alas, poor yorick" as well. of course, sometimes i look into my soul and see something funny...

FUCK!

replace "soul" in that last sentence with "mirror."

I didn't use the hammer-head man until my seventh comic! Of course, we had a much smaller selection of characters to use at that stage, so I was required to use it sooner, you see...

...and then there's this little fella, who used to have a degree of notoriety back in the day...

Note that I hadn't gotten the hang of the bewildering catchphrase by that point.

Take note of this, kids. Less than two days after the site was launched, people were already complaining about the quality of the comics. If any of us ever start talking about "the good old days", smack us.

In the good old days, the total number of strips was fewer than the number Gabe has done now.

Hey, it ain't just me. I think Obi has more, and he was gone for a couple months. And DX has almost as many as both of us, but a third of his were made on the same day when he was hopped up on Grape Robitussin and quaaludes.

As for the Exploding Dog hammer guy, he's without a doubt my favorite character. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in half of my comics. I'll see if I can pluck out some gems...

I've always felt this is what my friend's feel like when I tell them about my dreams. Doesn't stop me though.

Somebody complained to me about the quality of comics when it was just in beta testing, even.
