Comics Topics!

I debated this back and forth in my head. I’ve had so many interesting to outright retarded ideas for the contest but eventually I decided to narrow it down the following topics:

---- You may be asking yourself, “Why does 80MF have this ‘obsession’ with black people?” I’ll tell you why! *rainbow effects* Its Black History Month! Plus, I have “Sociology of Contemporary Minority Relations” this quarter, so… I have African Americans on my mind a lot. (though, usually they’re usually naked, whipping me and calling me ‘dirty honky’).

Anyway, just write a comic about African Americans themselves, African American culture, music, TV, history… anything related to black people. If you’re some kind of blatant racist and you want create something derogatory, go right ahead. Just don’t expect any points from me.

---- February also got another nice thing about it. President’s Day! Fabricate a comic about this day or presidents in general. As an added bonus, presidents from 1992-2005 cannot be used.

---- February is also the month of love. Well, Valentine’s Day anyway. Before V-Day you’re feeling like a dork for not having a girlfriend and after V-Day you’re glad you didn’t have anyone to waste money on. …But yeah. Write about V-Day or love in general. Ain’t it something grand?

---- Just to mix it up, here’s something that has NOTHING to do with February! Strip Creators. Let’s be honest, we rock out loud. Why NOT give kudos to ourselves and our friends? Write about any ACTIVE strip creators! Blatantly derogatory comments will still be accept, but won't get you any points

Let’s recap! Blacks, Love, Strip Creators, Presidents… Those are the four topics you can choose from or combined together into one comic or use in a series. Now, let’s move onto just a few more additional tidbits I want to cover.

-----------

This CC is judged on a qualitative and quantitative basis. This means that you need to create a lot of comics! However, if someone has three comics that are funnier than all 5,062 of your comics… Your chances of winner are low.

You’ll also get additional kudos if you can…
- combine all four topics into one strip or strip series
- somehow involve sociology
- somehow involve communism and/or captialism
- Create the Secret Strip! (Doesn’t have to be right on.)

-----
Dos and Don’ts

DON’T use any Photoshop’d comics.
DON’T use comics made before Feb 10, 2005.
DO be funny
DO create as many as you feel like.
DON’T use clichés, like Tobor
DO feel welcome to create a series of strips
DO feel welcome to combine all four topics into one strip or strip series.
DON’T squeeze the Charmin

Comics will be judge on February 17, 2005 at approx. 8:00am. This is subject to change, depending on the weather. The comics will be judged by me and a super secret ‘celebrity’ guest judge. Have fun with it!

Do they have to be American black people or can I make a comic about Bob Marley?

Go for it. Even if Bob Marley is not American, you have to admit he has had a large impact on Pop Culture.

Friendly, here's a word of advice: The don't have to combine all the topics. While it's cool that you can, it's not an outright requirement. You can just simply pick one of the for topics and write about it that way.

The following strips parody Jack & Bobby, the WB television series about a young boy, Bobby McCallister, who will one day grow up to become President of the United States.

270434
270438

The use of Dexx in this strip was based on the homophony of his name with that of a girl Bobby dated on the show, and is not intended to suggest that he is actually gay. Also, the preceding has been satire, and the opinions expressed by the characters do not necessarily reflect my opinions.
