Tangela's lamer than Metapod, actually. Even Metapod had the cool buddhist temperment.

Plus, Metapod would evolve into Butterfree eventually and you'd have a really effects-heavy (albeit really lame) fighter. But with Tangela...you're just screwed. There's no hope for you if you have a Tangela. You might as well shoot it, or sell it to Team Rocket. Although, they probably wouldn't take it. I know I wouldn't.

Thanks for your *cough* comments, everyone. And no Pokemon is completely crap, each one has its strengths and weaknesses. Tangela was the only Grass pokemon in the original 150 that wasn't part Bug, Psychic or Poison. This meant it had the advantage of not being weak against Psychic, but the disavantage of being weak against Poison. It also levels up pretty fast. And if you don't like Pokemon or think it's 'gay', I don't give a flying fuck.

The fact of the matter is is that all of the psychic pokemon in the original 150 were incredibly powered over any pokemon, especially a wimp like Tangela. Besides:

Grass and psychic have no relation whatsoever. You're thinking of pure bug types, who have strength against psychic types.
