Redesign of the front page is now online. Thanks to Fuzzyman for the graphic. The panels on the left are the first panel from a randomly chosen comic with a rating of 5 or higher. Vote early, vote often!

It's beautiful! I love the first panel teaser idea.

I agree completely. However, there is one small problem. In:

157770

and

176489

the teaser is less than gripping.

It's even worse for this one I saw:

80995

I thought the image-bring-up had hung for a moment.

Brad, would it be possible to put a filter on the randomizer query so that not only would it show first panels only from comics rated 5 or above, it would only show them if the first panels had text or characters in them?

That'd be possible, I'll take a look at that.

I got kind of confused about that too. It's really cool, though. It definitely has improved since November last year, when I first got an account. I agree with chicka; It's beautiful. And it also seems more..haha..welcoming.

When it gets a comic with no dialog in it now it displays a placeholder asiangirl panel.

I always prefer asiangirl over most of the dialogue in here.

I love the absurdity of the whole panel-out-of-context thing. It's just the existential purple nurple a visitor needs upon entering.

With the kajillions of panels created on here every year, the life-changingedness of the site goes up in sharp contrast to those that have people rate pictures of human poop.

I really hate to be a stick in the mud, but it looks a "tad" tacky. The old layout looked lovely and concise to navigate around, but now it sorta looks like someone attacted it with Yahoo! page builder.

The graphic is sweet looking but it's positioned too far left so it looks like it shouldnt be there.

Maybe it's just my browser but the comic panel could be scaled down so that it doesnt take up so much space, and it would be a good idea if the random comic was for donors only seeing as there are so many trolls on the site, and it would be another reason for people to donate.

I'm sorry if i'm coming across as an asshole, Brad is supurb coder and I wouldnt doubt his skills for a minute. I'm just offering some feedback. Please don't flame me. :(

Actually, It grew on me, I like it. But the comic could still be scaled down a bit (If thats possible to do).

I realise now that the comic has be rated 5+ so theres no chance of trolls getting in.

Is this a bug with that feature?

At 800x600 the red links under the banner wrap. Maybe if the text were smaller and/or centered.

Even at 1024x768, the news box is too far down the page to be read without scrolling. Seems like the news shouldn't be hidden... maybe if the PayPal box were moved below the news box? Ultimately I think the features that get talked about in the news box are going to do more to convince people to donate than just seeing a PayPal button will.
