Not that I'm one to talk about this, since I couldn't photoshop a white square if I tried, but it would be kind of need to have foregrounds as well as backgrounds. For example, a counter with plates on it for people like indypete to be in a diner. You could also have foreground bushes, or anything like that.

Just thought I'd throw that out, in case anyone wants to make some and brad wants to support it. (Shouldn't be too hard, I'd think.)

I always thought it'd be nice to have a steering wheel foreground, but since I have no idea how hard this would be, I've never brought it up. Thanks for ruining my ignorant silence.

You mean like an image that was laid over the whole panel? I'm not sure if that's possible in HTML. Maybe with some advanced CSS stuff...

It's not possible in HTML, and the CSS isn't that advanced. Basically

or in .css:

img.foreground
{
z-index: 3;
}
then

I think unz-indexed elements (i.e. everything else) defalt to zero, so 1 would work, too... but you never know when you're going to want to slide something in between.

Or you can simply add the foreground image last, which would put it on top of everything else.

I think a steering wheel would be another great idea for a foreground.

Foregrounds would be great. I'd like to contribute a few.

Well, contribute them! That way, Brad can play with making them work if he thinks it's a good idea. (...which it is.)

How well would it really work? What with all the charcters being different sizes and so on.

How to make foregrounds:

Step 1) Find the proper foreground for your comic.

Step 2) Print it out (up to) 3 times.

Step 3) Cut out foregrounds.

Step 4) Tape the cut out foregrounds to monitor in the correct places in front of comic.

Though this and the new temple and hall backgrounds made me think we need characters who are facing the background.

Hey yeah you're right, I'm sure some comics I've already made would benefit from those new characters too so your idea has my vote.
