Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I tried to purchase something tonight using PayPal and it routed me to some message claiming a random security check. I've had to do this before, so it wasn't a big deal.

Then it asks about several purchases that were "made from a foreign country", asking if they were authorized. I'm IN a foreign country, you fucktards. There hasn't been a single purchase in the past YEAR that was made outside Kuwait, and yet you feel a need to find it odd NOW?

I say Yes, the transactions wer authorized, and it tells me to change my password. Fine. I do that. It tells me everything is good.

Thn I try to go and make my purchase, and I get routed through the same procedure. This repeats itself five times before I start to get pissed. I tried logging out and logging back in, but then it refused to accept any of the multiple passwords I had been forced to input, forcing me to use the 'lost password' door, and then it decides it wants to play the game AGAIN!

I have sent an e-mail to customer service; if they don't get this fixed I'm going to have to have a talk with whoever's in charge over there.

With a PayPal like this, who needs PayEnemies?

I wish I could help you, but there's no way around the automated security stuff. It sucks that you're getting fucked by the red flags, but they are necessary to prevent shit-tons of fraud. I hope customer support gives you a good solution.

Sounds like PayPal needs to have its shit pushed in.

reminds me of a tale about somethingawful.com :

they are based in New Orleans, so when Katrina hits their server goes. they set up a temporary site with a paypal donation account, saying "give to help Katrina victims". PayPal suspends their account because too much money was donated in too short of a time.

seriously fucked up.

PayPal is a joke. And not a very funny one.

The reason for that is that charities have to go through separate processes to subject themselves to more scrutiny, because of stuff like all the fradulent charities that sprung up after 9/11. It's very easy to use an online money-moving service for fraud, and thus PayPal has to be more careful about suspicious changes in activity. In the somethingawful situation, PayPal refunded all the money to the donors, and advised Lowtax of his options for setting up the method for charitable contributions.

I've had a lot of fun with PayPal in the past couple years.

A rant: http://rants.lackofoxygen.net/paypal.html

That was followed up by some comics:

Conclusion: PayPal fucks you no matter where you are.

Hmmm. Well, no response from Customer Service yet. I suppose when they say they'll respond promptly, they mean "only if you e-mail us during the week."

Bah.

And by "only if you e-mail us during the week" they mean "go fuck yourself."

I bet they just have a massive dart board with names on it, and they help people by whoever "Drunken Bob" from the copy room hits first.
