You heard me. I thought that would a good idea, rating a particular series. Also, what if the author could leave a comment on each of their comics, like saying something about where you got the idea? Consider this.

I kinda like that idea. biped's comics, for example, rarely stand on their own, but the multitude of series he puts out are wonderful.

I'd love to be able to provide commentary on the series that I have made. It should be a donor only feature though.

Doesn't the short description count as commentary?

So you'd want to be able to provide author commentary on each comic?

By the by, I believe this commentary thing is in the works, is it not? I distictly remember posting a test comment to one of brad's comics. No Orwellian sleight-of-hand can make me forget that.

If and when brad gets the time to put it up, I think this could bring SC into a whole new realm. A comment system will probably be the biggest jump this site has seen since... I dunno... comic editing.

Moreso than art updates, formatting tweaks and other nifty surface changes, a comment option will open up a whole new creative vista: annotation.

Like the classics of English literature, modern epics such as, say, boorite's seminal work on the "Tobor" mythos, could have new life breathed into and fresh light shed on them.

Disregarding all the normal silliness of the internet, the smart, literate users on here could contribute to a, wotsname, elaborate patchwork memetic blanket that plays a part in a, y'know, great historic cultural tradition of intellectuals engaging in a circle-jerk of the mind.

The beauty of annotation is everything that is NOT germane to understanding the comic can have a place. The inspirations, allusions, snippets of dialogue stolen from real life, or even the music you were listening to at the time of writing can now stand to complement and augment the work, while maybe putting it in a new context for the reader. Annotation works outward into the world that feeds the imagination, and inward into the mind that spins the elements into a design as unique and as fragile as the creator. I think some of us here could get a lot out of this.

Or, as I said, we can at least use it to wank each other's knobs.

I support this.

More specificially, I think it would be cool if each comic had an additional field for "Author Notes."

The notes would appear/expand if the notes link was clicked on the comic (not necessarily appear with the comic automatically)

I would love to be able to offer all my fans in London the complete annotated crabby.

It would be easier to understand. Like you wouldn't have to explain in the captions, which looks stupid.
