I have applied for #stripcreator on Undernet on behalf of all you silly people. What this means is that if your Cservices username is on this list:

BigEvilDan
gabebillings
ladyjdotnet
coughld
zenboy
habnem
Krinkle
kenak

Go here:

http://www.cservice.undernet.org/

click on "Web Interface"

It will tell you that you've been listed as a supporter for channel #stripcreator.

Follow the instructions to approve of the application.

Sit back and be content with a job well done.

Note: if all of the users haven't approved within three days, the application will be rejected and I will probably not bother trying again because I'm a bit of a fatalist sometimes.

Thank you.

Veni vedi vouchi.

But seriously, Brad, isn't Gabe in travel? How to reach him?

This is Gabe we are talking about.

If he were floating through space in just a space suit, ten trillion kilometres from the nearest planet, he would still find a way to get online and make a strip about how much wirthling sucks.

Had I known he was not around I wouldn't have applied until I found someone else. Damn.

I just sent him a message about it on his yahoo account, which he can check through his phone. With a little luck...

Also of note in the registration guidelines:

During the registration period, Channel Service will be checking to insure all your supporters are really users of the channel and are actually joining it. They need to be logged into X before they join so that they will be counted. Repeat: PLEASE BE SURE YOUR SUPPORTERS LOG INTO X BEFORE THEY JOIN THE CHANNEL OTHERWISE THEY WILL NOT BE COUNTED.

So if you drop by #stripcreator on Undernet, please log into the X bot so that we can look like we actually have a useful channel. The command to log in looks like this:

/msg x@channels.undernet.org login [username] [password]

Only with your username and password. I will be in there as often as possible, keeping the dream alive.

Ok, Brad, please help the dense among us:

How does one "log into X"?

I request info about #x and #stripcreator, and neither is found.

And I apparently have no access to any channels.

As Brad said:

Also, when on undernet, you can "/msg X help" and he'll tell you the command.

The command where? If I saw an appropriate command processor, I wouldn't have been asking. I checked all the potentially relevant pages at the posted URL, and came up empty.

Or, to rephrase, how does one get "on Undernet?" Through a web portal? Through ordinary ircware?

I'm sorry. I did not understand that you didn't know about undernet.

Undernet is just like efnet, only a different set of servers. Regular ircware is used. You can get a current list of servers at http://servers.undernet.org/

It did not occur to me that this is way the problem lay, because I have seen you on irc, and thought you would have recognized the /msg command as an irc command.

i want to make a reference to oh brother where art thou and throw out a quote like "..fate has vouchsafed your reward" and make vouch all bold, but i'm too lazy and it's not that funny.
regardless i did it...
about that last part...
log in to X, then join strip creator...?
done, is that good?

Well, that I did. However, I was so bamboozled by the Undernet red tape -- get an ID, sign up, give your email and whatnot -- that I thought they might require an entirely different means of access.

That and the fact that I'm at work, where the irc ports have been glued shut, so fat lot of good it will do me anyway till I get home tonight.

But thanks for the clarification!

Well, the red tape is only for getting a channel set up, and it leaves you with a very secure channel that is takeover-resistant and get-backable.

So everyone has vouched for #stripcreator now except for Mr. Billings, who I'm deeply disappointed in. He's a bad example for the rest of the class, etc.

The rest of you though are excellent, thanks for vouching so quickly everyone.

Ye of little faith... As Obi can attest to, vouching for you on Undernet was a high priority for me despite the fact that I was on vacation and computerless. On two separate occaisions I tracked down PCs, one of which I was forced to pay for, solely for the purpose of doing the deed.

I'm even logged into #stripcreator as we speak... talking to you.
