Who else here is into the baseball? I figured we could get some sports banter going.

I absolutely hate baseball, which is increasingly harder each day because I live in St. Louis (ranked the BEST sports town) and the head people at my office use their vacation days to watch the Cardinals play at the new Busch Stadium downtown. So I'm pretty up on the game, without actually being a fan. Want to banter?

The Jays did a number on the Bronx Bombers last night...10-5
Does anybody else hate the Yankees as much as I do?

I'm from Toronto, so I'm a fan of the Jays....
Your favourite team?

I'm from Chicago and am a huge fan of the White Sox. Crabby on the other hand is a huge fan of the Cubs... Pretty harsh rivalry there.

I do hate the Yanks a whole lot, by the way.

I have loved baseball ever since I saw that Ken Burns documentary, "The Civil War." (I really meant "Baseball", but I wanted you to think, "Huh? I thought he was going to say 'Baseball' instead of 'The Civil War'.") But I don't have TV anymore so I never get to watch it.

I have a cool Microsoft Baseball computer game, but I don't get to play it anymore because my CD-rom is busted, and there's a great Porcupine Tree CD ("Stupid Dream") stuck in it so I don't get to listen to that anymore, either.

I'm a Red Sox fan, so I've been well indoctrinated into the way of the way of the Yankee hate. It helps that all the neds over here seem to wear a lot of Yankees gear.

I also have Pujols and Shelton in my fantasy team, and A.Jones is doing very nicely for me this week too.

I'm not that fond of football, but always liked baseball. A Cleveland Indians fan, of course. I had a customer about a week ago call in at 3:00 a.m. and we talked until it was almost time for me to log out at 5:30 a.m. He was so happy with my CS, and the time involved to solve his policy problems, that he said he'd send me some collector cards for Kenny Lofton (no longer a member of the Indians but my absolute favourite player of all time).

I always hate that baseball season is so long, and it really pisses me off that I STILL have to hear about baseball in the off-season when the NBA playoffs are going. Fucking baseball!

But it's a sport, so I'll watch it.

162 games... Must be rough on the players. I was talking to Injokester once, who is from Australia, and he couldn't believe that a single team plays that many games in a season... It truly is remarkable.

Baseball isn't in the off season during the NBA playoffs.

NBA is shit. Basketball is shit. Take that information and use it in a way that is beneficial to you.

Be glad you're not Orioles fans, who have to watch our team look unbeatable one day and like the shittiest team on Earth the next. I don't have enough Maalox to last 162 games.

(P.S. NHL playoffs start tonight. Boo-yah!)

i' m pretty surprised to see as many sports fans as there are here. personally i hate all sports, which are just a weak substitute for tribal warfare, but being as how i'm from cleveland, maybe i'm just so conditioned to our sports teams SUCKING TOTAL ASS that i gave up hope long ago.

beyond that, i see no reason why i should support my local team of millionaires, they certainly don't need my cash.

i am a bit jealous that sports fans feel so passionate about something. kinda like religion, sure its fun to mock its followers, but deep down inside there's a hint of envy to the whole thing.

I was watching the hockey last weekend (Toronto vs someone), but I found it a bit hard to follow what was going on, what the puck being so very small and me being so very drunk.
