So if I was going to split up the backgrounds into categories, what categories would be most useful/appropriate?

Injokester has submitted a series of really nice office-related backgrounds, so I was thinking that'd be a potential category.

Actually I'm thinking about reorganizing all the art categories as well, so any suggestions there would be great also.

Backgrounds

  1. Inside (Any room - from bedroom to laboratory)
  2. Houses (outside of houses)
  3. Urban (buildings, restaurant, ambulance, streets)
  4. Rural (bushes, rock, desert, ocean)
  5. Fantasy (happy place, God's room, zombie, psycho)
  6. Basic (black, red, green, splitter)

That was easy. Characters will be a bugaboo. You'd have to keep art from recognizable sources together. I would only reorganize public domain characters into catagories. Oh, that would be a good toggle on the create page - characters to keep in-house, and characters we can png and publish elsewhere. Then the in-house could keep the catagories they already have, and the PD ones could get reorganized.

Ooh, good background categories.

Anything that belongs to an established strip will have to stay in its own category, but I think the rest, DexX, Threereasons, Kaddar, Injokester, could be bundled together I think.

There's the issue of conflicting art styles, but I don't realistically know what I could do about that other than stocking the site with entirely new and similar art.

Agreed. I'm not crazy about the snarky way he said "easy" after he proposed it though....

Was that snarky? Snark's kind of in my DNA, and I don't always know when I sound that way. I only meant "as opposed to breaking up characters into catagories." But I am knocking around some CTers this morning, and I tend toward the snark when I do that. And isn't that a phrase from some movie I can't remember...

"That was easy!!!" Hmm...

Apologies, Brad.

I liked the categorizing of the backgrounds and although I thought bolo was a little too proud of himself, I've come to find that sort of behavior charming from him.

I'm all for categorizing Injokester's and Kaddar's art, but there should at least still be something there that says that they were the ones who submitted it to the site. Maybe "Blue" becomes something like "Blue-k"?

So for left and right it would be Blue-K-L?

Something along those lines :-P

I don't think it would bother the artists if we didn't have them in their own category or "credited" to them... But I'm sure Brad would at least add their names to the "Stripcreator uses art from..." list.

I like the "categories" of characters as they are, but here are some options:

1) People

2) Animals

3) Scary Monsters and Super Freaks

4) Props

5) Jesus (he seems pretty popular:)

You can have 'Elemental' for all the watery, fiery, airy and earthy shit.
