At the "log in" page I have to click inside the "User name" box to get a cursor. Any way we could have the cursor appear there automatically? [I did say I was lazy.]

If not, that's fine. Just wanted to throw it out there. Thanks.

And, no, I don't nor won't use automated fill-ins.

You could use the tab key... although the tab key also has to tab through all the links at the top of the page before it gets into any input or textarea fields.  That's probably just as inconvenient to big fat lazy Americans.

onload = function() {
document.forms[0].elements[0].focus();
}

would be the dirty but compatible way.

Yeah, I tried that, but you do have to press Tab a LOT. Even more tiring than clicking on the textarea. ;)

Clicking on the page itself and then pressing Tab places the cursor in the textarea. At least that way I don't have to move the mouse!

I hate it lots and lots when cursors magically appear in text fields that I might already be typing in, thus wiping out my hard work.

How about setting a tab order so that the relevant boxes are the ones that end up being tabbed to first?

I'd just have to remember how to change the tab order. Uhhhh.
