I used to be, but that eventually led to harder things- final fantasy, world of warcraft, and recently crack.

Anyone want to buy my mom's vcr?

I suck at minesweeper. I don't know if I've ever actually won a game. I stick to solitaire and the occasional game of Free Cell.

I used to be addicted.  I actually had to delete it from my computer at one point because I was playing too much.  My records:

Beginner:  8 seconds (mostly luck at beginner level)

Intermediate:  don't remember

Expert:  116 seconds

When I play now, I can't do Expert in under 200.  Out of practice!

I can't get enough minesweeper. My records are:

3 toes: 35 seconds

left hand and forearm: 64 seconds

right leg and all of my partner: 72 seconds

Minesweeper just makes me wish there was a game called Mimesweeper where you blow up mimes.

I, too, suck at minesweeper. Back when I was a wee freshman in college, minesweeper was the pasttime of everyone who lived on my floor. Being the only one with a Mac, I was the outcast and unable to take part in their discussions. Oh, I had tried my hand at it in high school when my mom bought a beautiful new Gateway with the astonishinly sleek Windows 3.1, but my brain just couldn't comprehend how it works.

But I'm still undefeated at computer Risk.

i hardly ever play minesweeper but when i do i only play the beginner level. i was telling twi that i got 9 or 8 seconds once on the old computer, i couldn't remember which. she tried to see if she could beat that and got 8 seconds and then 6 seconds both within like 5 attempts. O_o. 6 secs is the lowest i've ever heard of

i used to play freecell a lot. i reset it recently and was 99% through a couple hundred games. i'm 95% through a thousand now.

but my true pride is ms hearts where i've won the game with 0 points probably 5 or 6 times. i screenshotted some of them if anyone wants to see and blow me

...or Kurtis Blow me.

I haven't spent much time on Beginner figuring it could be done rather quickly with a spot of luck.

I started out in 225-250 range in Expert and figured I should be able to do 10 easy. Beat that and now I'm shooting for 120.

I've been playing Intermediate lately, but haven't sniffed 41 seconds again. Once I get under 40, I'll go back to Expert.

Against other humans or the AI? I know it's random, but the AI players always seem to get the best rolls when I play against them. And I'm a pretty good board player.

I'm sure someone else is addicted to minesweeper, but I doubt if anyone else is.

Against the AI. I discovered in all the different Risk games I've played, from Mission Risk to the official Risk to the black and white Risk game on my Mac Classic, that the computers all act the same. Being computers, they have no creativity and no concept of sacrificing certain areas in order to stealthily take over another. They just play the game straightforward, with little decent strategy, even on mission games. That's why playing with humans is so much more challenging, because humans do crazy wild shit that most people would never predict. These days, I play Risk like I play solitaire. Something to pass the time until the pizza arrives, or to wind down before bed. As much fun as it sounds to be undefeated at computer Risk, it's boring as hell and I'd kill for a good game.

I haven't played a game of Risk against humans in years. I used to at Macalester all the time, but the only good players were too busy playing Vampire or some random White Wolf RPG. And the mediocre players just stopped playing because they didn't win.

You can't play over the internet?

I did, but on the few occasions Firefox didn't vomit all over me, I got the players that ask me "do u want to ply teh risk lol?" and then proceed to carry on the following conversation:

"ur turn"
"I know. I'm thinking about my next move."
"k"
...
"are u gong?"
"Yes, just give me a minute!"
"k"
...
"r u liek playing or what?"
*kill*

It reminds me of that time I played Literati without any of the SC crew and I got the girl who couldn't spell "literati," but was able to play "gook" as her opening move.

Cue the cut scene of umfum on his porch, in his rockin' chair in front of the screen door, with a pen-knife and a copy of Windows 95.

Kudos on the Family Guy reference.

I only wish I could play Minesweeper out on my porch!

After that sincere lament, I took pity on you and hid a bunch of mines under your porch.

My gift to you.
