Has the world really gotten to the point where teachers write things like 'lot's of benefits'?

Regardless of anything else, step one is to lay off all the narration. It just ends up shifting around your topic every panel and makes your strip impossible to read. Either drop the narration and make your dialogue more coherent across all three panels, or try doing one panel comics.

To be fair, that was the student's line.

And I think the funny is there. You just need to work on delivery. Right now the cost-benefit ratio is not working in your favor. Examine your supply chain to identify inefficiencies to eliminate.

economics are never funny.

I was discouraged by the occurrence of a catchphrase from a 1996 Tom Cruise movie in a tone other than abject sarcasm.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It does help, as I try to make an attempt at showing the students that while Economics is required (at least at our schools), there are many ways to look at the field, and hopefully they can personalize something from the Econ classes they take, even if it's balancing their checkbook (which actually is a pretty good thing to know)...thanks again...

I never balance my checkbook, and as a result I sleep in the gutter and eat out of garbage bins.
