donating 5 times is almost worth the top rated flood

Most of those comics have just enough votes to be on the toprated list, and a good number of those popped up there after I was looking through Ranger's stuff and voting on the ones I liked.

I love that comic.

I was going to write a long anecdote in response to this thread but before I got started I realized I didn't really feel like it. Anyway, the upshot of the story would have been that the soup was delicious.  Hope that helps.

So do you think the guy has 5 donor accounts he made who keep kicking up his comics or what?

No I don't. I want to go on record as saying that. Also I want to say that the series as a whole is a solid 7.5 in my book with a few goods, a lot of okays, and a few bads. In my opinion though most of the 10 rated comics aren't THAT good.

But the great thing about my opinion is that it doesn't matter. I would be confused if I was him though if my okay comics that are okay as a comic but not particularly funny kept getting rated good.

In short, I'm not a fan.

Also, I have to give Ranger77 props for either ignoring this whole post and/or realizing that I don't hate him. It's really classy how he hasn't taken this as a flame war and started defending himself. There's nothing to defend.

Hell, I conceder Chika a good friend on this site and she doesn't care for my comics.

I don't think Ranger has ever really frequented the forums. Him and xxxenon (and a few others) just seem to come here for nothing but comic making purposes. Jerks.

To me, that indicates multiple accounts.  One to make lots of comics with, one to post on the forums with, and one to run for President with.

Ivy voted a lot of Ranger's work good, and so did I. All it takes is one more person to vote on it to make it jump to the toprated. Once there other people vote and it comes down again, just like anyone else who gets a comic up there.  You don't like his comics.  We get it.  This campaign against him is a little silly.

So it seems all of my top 10 rated comics have been rated bad or worse. That's nice.

What was I thinking having comics rated higher than average. It's not like someone could have STRAIGHT FUCKING TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!!!

My Goddamn gripe was not that he has high rating. But that only 4 people think they're perfect, AND, those same comics are included in everyone else's comics. 

Way to sink to my level.

Alot has been said and the only thing that I probably should say in response is:

1) I just like making comics. Some are good. Some suck. Can't deny that.

2) I hate drama. Learned a long time ago to stay away from the forums. Nothing personal, but as I said I'm here just for the comics. If someone sends me a PM cool....but other than that I'm not a forum/chat person.

3)Top rated doesn't really mean too much to me. Sorry to take the wind out of the conspiracy theory out there. There's someone out there that like my comics alot and I'm as confused as any of you are. I don't up vote my own comics with multiple accounts. I just have this one. Doesn't matter to me. Too much work for the return and really kind of chidish.

4) I also can't figure out the rotation bit on the front page. Again....not my call. Beyond my control. Talk to Brad....

5) I really miss just cranking out comics and being in the background.

Other than that....um....I'm out.

Ranger's comics are, for the most part, pretty good. That is all.

I get it, I get it. I don't care about this anymore. Sorry for the fuss. Although Ranger77 is submitting himself, as are we all, to a ratings system, he has never bitched about my critique. Let us all learn a lesson from him.

I just listened to a podcast wherein Dennis Dyack reminded me that there are people on the other side of the keyboard. While I've never been a mean person online I feel I've been so here.

This thread was a goof in the first place. Let's turn it into one again

If there's one thing I like about Ranger77's work it's the fact that he's turned 1200 comics into an entire storyline. I don't like always seeing the same comics on the front page made by Ranger77, but it would be good to show some others.

This is what I think is going on with Ranger77's comics.

He's a decent comic writer with a nice sarcastic view of the world. He's also very consistent with his characters. As such, his comics get rated high enough for them to pop up on the front page. When someone starts reading them, they start liking them and rating them good. That's all. As far as I know, it's simply chance that large numbers of his comics end up on the top rated at times. As you can see, the comics aren't on the recently top rated list. That means a lot of comics are just getting ratings here and there, and it only takes one newbie ranking a lot of comics good to push a lot of them into the top rated overall.

Yes, a situation like the above looks fishy. It could be that a silly troll picks up on a thread like this and start uprating comics to cause a situation. But there is no proof available to any member of this board but Brad that the comics are being intentionally uprated to do this, much less such uprating being coordinated or assisted by Ranger77.

I should issue one correction -- it doesn't have to be a newbie or a troll. It could be just someone who decided to read and rate Ranger77's comics of their own volition, unaware of the turmoil such an action would unleash. Looking fishy does not mean salmon for dinner.
