you know, when you wake up and go to get on the computer and you computer chair breaks, dumping you on the floor?

and then you go outside and some has thoughtfully shot your car windshield with a pellet gun?

i'm having one of those days. it kinda sucks. goodbye $500 deductible....

Wow, that sucks.

If it's any consolation, if you're the kind of person to go around shooting pellet guns at car windows, at some point in your life you're going to piss off the wrong person and pay for it dearly.

I know a guy who can replace that windshield for $150. Let's just say I had a similar experience, only a fist instead of a pellet gun.

Good luck driving to Missouri for the cheap discount, though.

Right now I think we should have that discussion from Pulp Fiction about when his car gets keyed.

But Chicka's point is valid. Unless it'll cost significantly more than 500 to fix it, might be better to pay out of pocket and skip the insurance company altogether.

yeah, that's what i thought too. parts and labor on the windshield  (not including to mouldings) came to $488.

however, the top and side mouldings for the window are only salvagable around 25% of the time and are dealer parts only. the price for them you ask?

$405

here is a conceptual photo of what the perpetrator will look like if i ever find out who it was:

except i may beat him worse than this.

If you have comprehensive with a $500. deductible, and you've gotten a quote to replace the windshield that's less, sometimes it's better to handle it yourself and not make a claim through your insurance.

If you're getting all these quotes from the dealership, you already know this, but you're getting screwed.

of course i am. just buying a car from a dealership means you're getting screwed. the quote for the mouldings is from the dealership because i have no choice in the matter.

the price for the windshield replacement is from an independent glass company, not the dealership. so i get to get raped by 2 different companies.

ain't it grand?

At first glance, I misread your first post as saying "You fall out of your computer chair, and then dump on the floor."

I was gonna' say "Now there's a day I've had many-a-time, my old friend."

But I see that that is not what is typewritten there in that post.

The stuff about the moldings being barely salvageable is bullshit. It's just an excuse for them to stiff you out of $400.

If there was a way for you to affordably get your vehicle here to VA, I'd do the labor for free and score you a deal on the glass.

...when everyone seemed to be on your case
From your teacher all the way down to your best girlfriend
Well, that used to happen to me all the time
But I found a way to get out of it
Let me tell you 'bout it!!!

Umm....yeah, Unknown. Tell me all about it.

Cuz I was just thinkin about camping out on the roof overlooking my parking lot with my .44 wary of some crazy bastard that had a large, black pistol in his hand.

How was I to know, in the darkness, officer, that it was a pellet gun?

Case closed.
