I'm about to go to my first New Zealand rugby game in three hours. It's the Crusaders versus...I don't know, I think it's The Guys About to Get Destroyed By The Crusaders. I'm currently getting cheap beer through an IV in preparation.

I hated hated hated football in the States but this is much better. It's what football would be if the players had no pads. Or fat. Or blackness.

Or heterosexuality.

The slaughter was pretty awesome. As it turns it was The Crusaders versus The Lions or something, which I think is a bit like The Rolled-Up Newspapers versus The Cockroaches in terms of fairness among mascots.

New Zealand's ok I guess. Haven't seen too much of it in the months we've been here, but it's pretty expensive and boring, especially if you're not into, like, nature. Instead of staying a full year we might head to China sooner than we thought and tack Cuba and South America onto the end of the trip. We can stay pretty much for free with friends and relatives there so it may be cool.

Rugby sucks.

I think the both are pretty funny. Unfortunately, though, I was expecting their work to be a representation of Kiwi humor, a mistake I now realize is like saying Ohio has a kick-ass music scene because the Black Keys are from Akron.

But at least I got a text message today that said 'Hey mate we're at the men's club - come down if you fancy a pint.' At 9 AM. My kinda place.
