I've started a new film-based comic. Comments are encouraged. Let me know what you think.

My comment is to read the FAQ and post some comics so I can (be)rate them.

I don't know who Charles Foster Kane is, who Judd Apatow is, or what Xanadu is.  Other than that, your comics seem to be all right, but consider this:

Too much narration.  Classic rookie mistake.  Imagine your comics just as they are, but without the yellow boxes.  They're a lot cleaner, and you get rid of information unnecessary to the jokes.  Unnecessary information, as a rule, is distracting and removes funny from comics in big chunks.  Maybe you could keep "Meanwhile, Charles Foster Kane's storage room at Xanadu..." in the first comic, but that's it.

Your dialog is also occasionally guilty of too much information.  Stick to just what you need for the jokes.

Beware of jokes that require knowledge of stuff that people don't know about.  For example, I know nothing of movie blogging, so I don't get your first comic at all.  Limiting the scope of who will get your jokes isn't necessarily bad, but it does... well... limit the scope of who will get your jokes.

Overall, though, I think you have potential.  Your comics had a flow from set-up to punchline which a lot of beginners miss entirely.  Keep trying!

I suppose if you were a pale, disfigured person whose horribly tormented existence made movies the only tiny escape from an otherwise hellish existence then these comics might be funny.

Other than that I am less amused than if I was watching a Pauly Shore movie.

   Keep trying.

I liked them though. Probably because I heard them talking about Chaplain's birthday on "Writer's Almanac" this morning. So take that for what it's worth - only people who listen to NPR on their morning commute will think your comics are funny.

That being said, I do think your comics are funny.

And Garrison Keillor owns my morning from 9:00AM-9:10AM. So fook all'a y'all.

I too listen to NPR. This doesn't, in any way, make these comics funny.

don't patronize, Z.

Well, duh. But I still got a chuckle out of them. And I swear I wasn't trying to be condescending.  I just like saying "Garrison Keillor".  It's a name that needs to be worked into more jokes.
