Whats the best guitar riffs ever? heres what i think:

1. Smoke on the water - deep purple

not a huge fan of the song but probably the most well known riff ever.

2. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin

A great song, with a huge riff.

3. Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC

Cracking solo, amazing solo, killer riff.

You should probably start a thread and list your 3 favorite. That will totally start up some lively conversations.

Any music made after you were born is automatically bad no matter what.

A bit off topic, but I did some Nickelback math the other day and discovered that working 5 days a week and hearing Nickelback an average of 7 times a night, I am forced to listen to 1,680 of their horrible crotch-rock songs a year.

This goes far to explaining my pathological hate for them.

I've often lamented that those are the only two choices of music genre.  Someone should really invent some more.

How can you listen to that slanted piece of crap Democracy Now!  A radio station here plays the first ten minutes of it.  I might listen to it if I happen to catch it -- just to hear a different perspective.  But really it's all crap -- especially when they get to the interviews.

But it's not as bad as the feature they carry:  the Jim Hightower report.  That guy is so far left he makes Democracy Now! look like Fox News with Rush Limbaugh as the CEO.  And to boot, he's either a complete idiot or he thinks that his listeners are complete idiots.  His facts are blatantly one-sided, occasionally incaccurate, and often phrased in such a way to place usually nonexistant fault with whomever he doesn't like.  Like when gas prices were going up, and he went off on airlines raising their prices.  Like it was some sort of affront to the people.  Infringing on the God-given right to fly to Florida for spring break or something.  JESUS.

Sorry to go off.  But I hate that guy.

The top three guitar riffs are:

1)  Any less than 3 seconds long

2)  Any I don't have to listen to

3)  Any played on a violin, accordian, or oodaiko
