I am new here. After reading a bunch of comics, I have seen characters holding TELEPHONES. I can't find these when I create my own comics. Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,

New Guy Steve

Can you show us some comics with the characters you're thinking of?

There is a telephone as a separate "character" in the props category.  In the "squabies" category, a couple of the Star Trek knockoffs are holding devices that could be construed as cell phones.  That's all I can think of.

Thanks for the response. I shall do a search so I can provide an example. I certainly am familiar with the "prop" stand alone telephone. That is all I can find.

Off I go

I can't think of anything else either.  There is always the "phoner" backround under misc but really no character with a phone.

Thanks guys, it must be the star-trek guys I was thinking of. Sorry for the troubles.

You could just use any character and pretend they are wearing a headset telephone.  If you don't think that's clear to the reader, you could have them thinking something like "I am wearing a headset telephone" in the first panel.

I find it easier to work under the assumption that all the characters are always wearing telephone headsets unless otherwise stated.

It sometimes backfires though. The other day I found myself shouting at a character who was talking to another character "You rude rude bastard, don't you know it's rude to talk to someone while they are engaged in a conversation with someone else via their wireless telephone headset, and what about the poor sap you are ignoring at the other end of your own wireless telephone headset???"

After re-reading the comic a few times I realised that neither of the characters had probably been written as wearing telephone headsets, but my anger was still real and present. It's a fucking minefield to be honest.

Actually, a few characters on cellphones would be nice--maybe a few done in the "office" style.

Then again, I remember when this site only had the matthew1 character, the room2 background, 1 panel per comic, no narration, and only animated gifs allowed in the text bubbles, and we seemed to get along alright back then.

I remember when this site didn't even exist and there weren't any cell phones.  I had to use my Barbie dolls to act out the comics.  I mean my sister's Barbie dolls.

Not totally off topic, and apologies if it's been asked already, as I haven't made a thorough search of forums or FAQs, but is there anywhere where we can view all of the figures, backgrounds etc. that are available to us. It would be far easier than just trying to guess in which category to look for a figure you need. Cheers.

If you click on the red arrows next to the Character Category dropdown menu, a window pops up with every character in the selected category.  You still have to scroll through the categories to see all of the available characters, but after a while, you'll have a better sense of what you're looking for and it will go faster.  There isn't a similar option for backgrounds.

I saw a character with a telephone today at the Taco Cabana. Evidently he was not going to work for free for some party, and he felt the need to shout this again and again over the rather loud Taco Cabana musak blaring out into the restaurant. It was really to the point that I was about to go over and remind this fellow that, yes, he was in an intense phone conversation, but he was also an idiot shouting in a crowd of people at no one anyone else could see, and just 20 years ago, we would have been calling the looney wagon to come cart him away.

We used to have a Taco Cabana by San Diego State when I went there.  It didn't last long, with the million other independent taco shops within drunken stumbling distance.

Still, the Taco, Taco Cabana, was the hottest spot north of Havana.
