I've noticed that a number of users know how to do a number of things that I would like to be able to do, but don't know how.

Following are some of these things...

- italicizing chosen words in speech bubbles

- inserting musical notes into speech bubbles

- changing font size in speech bubbles

- adjusting the height of a speech bubble when no character is used in that instance

- changing the font color

There are probably more such 'tricks' that I'm not remembering now, but these are the type of things I'm talking about. They are probably not considered 'tricks' by those who know how to do them, but they are by people like myself, who don't know how to do them. Obviously, I do know about some of them, when the options are presented to me by the page I'm on. It's just that I haven't seen these options presented on the 'make a comic' page.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for pointing me to that page. I never would've found it on my own. I may have seen it, but the term 'HTML codes' wouldn't have clued me in.

Although it's probably considered basic computer stuff, it's probably a little out of my league, however I'll probably give it a try. I do like the effects.

Thanks again, and I'm gonna' offer you twice as many jellybeans as that other guy to do that to you know who.

FLT's link will give you most of what you want.  But you also asked about adjusting the height of speech bubbles: for that, use the "height1" or "height2" character in the "props" category.

I thought the 'heights' selections in the 'props' category were just empty and unused spaces which used to contain something to do with mountains.

I'm going to try and use those now too, when it seems appropriate.

Thanks evil d for seeing that I had also asked about that point. I figured it was just another HTML code command. I am quite 'blocked' when it comes to learning new computer stuff, but I might just learn some here.
