Hey all, drawing again, post if you have requests.

1) Probably only doing backgrounds and 'office' style characters, but could do other professions.

2) If you post reference photos of characters I'm more likely to work on your request; need to be semi-to-full profile so they're suited to talking to someone on the other side of the panel, and big. Good for bg pics, just need to know what you want.

No promises, but I've done 7 new characters already and enjoying it. Already finished: caucasian woman, black man & woman, asian woman, hispanic woman, Indian man.

Would it be possible to do any sports related characters?

How about an anthropomorfic penis so I can start a new series called 'Penis School'

Just so I can get the punch line " you're not big and your not clever!" out of my system

They have a rivalry going with the local vagina school so we need those too

Sure. If anyone wants to weigh in; what sports? And would we prefer to have 2 characters from each sport or 1 each from twice as many?

I doubt it would get accepted, and if you're struggling to find pictures of genitals to combine in paint for a one-off, on the internet, then you're not looking hard enough.

Dammit, now I need to get "you're not looking hard enough" out of my system.

Since it's only 17 days to the Superbowl. I'll do more before asking Brad if he'll upload them, it's easier for him to do in batches.

Football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hocky, and maybe even some cheer leaders.

I don't have any particular requests, just want to say I'm always happy to see new art.  Probably what we need most is characters with a variety of poses.

And speaking of hockey, how about a Stanley Cup in props?  Lord knows it's the closest we in Washington will get to one.

Maaaaaan...... I go all year thinking of new ideas of what would be kool new characters or backgrounds or whatever and then when you offer to draw up new stuff I totally go blank! I'll try to think of some stuff soon. I had a couple of decent ideas a while back but my attention span right now is pretty much... SQUIRREL!!!

It's cool Bryce, I have a long list of ideas of my own, I just want to make sure I'm drawing things people will use :)

Multiple poses for each character probably won't be on the cards, I trace & modify rather than draw and I'm not a very good artist tbh - minor tweaks is about the best I can manage while retaining a likeness in the 'office' style.

And don't we already have some sort of trophy prop?

Here's some background ideas I came up with. I don't think we have most of these, though I'm not sure good the ideas are. If any look good, go for it. I'd just love to have contributed an idea for SC.

Backgrounds:

garbage dump
high school
lockers
shopping mall
walmart
dressing rooms
computer room
hockey game
audience
movie theater screen
casino
Docks
fishing pier
dungeon
grocery store
gas station
liquer store
cemetary (that isn't scary looking)
Star Trek ship deck (inside)
Black hole in outer space
Disneyland or other theme park
Roller coaster
bank
interrogation room
parade
roman collesium
firehouse

Cheers Bryce, some great ideas there, including a bunch I lost when my computer auto-rebooted and I hadn't saved. It's been bugging me that I couldn't remember.

Good suggestions, Bryce.

For any new background, I'm going to suggest fading the colors a bit.  Some of the backgrounds we have are so busy and colorful that it's hard to distinguish the characters.

As for new characters, how about a judge?  Maybe one pose normal, one banging the gavel.  Bonus points if you can fit the bench into the art.

Thanks for pointing that out D, I'll have a play around and see what I can come up with. To be honest I'll probably still do bright and colourful, but I can use shading to visually segregate the characters, and I'll do some testing with the various styles of artwork we have.

And the judge I did previously didn't get accepted, but looking at it now the hair and face need some reworking.

A Hitler character would be funny, or if people might find it too offensive, then maybe a generic hitler-looking dictator?

Or a big fat buddha? Statue of Liberty?

I'll try to think of some more ideas.

What about a background of a rock concert? Like the silhouette of a band playing on a stage with open curtains on either side, for people who want to do concert comics of fans talking while the show is going on (making fun of them? or enjoying the show?)

I threw this one together in photoshop real roughly to convey the general idea. Feel free to mess around with the idea, change things, etc.

I approve and endorese all that has been said so far.  Especially likiing the sports stuff, but the rock concert background is also ace.  Looking forward to what we get :-)

Quick update: have done about 20 characters and 1 background, need to do a few touch-ups after getting feedback, will format for SC shortly and submit.

Then taking a break as the RSI in my wrist is flaring up from drawing, but hope to do more shortly for a future batch :)

Sorry about this everyone but there will be further delays, had to go in for eye surgery today and now I look like the world's saddest pirate. It's surprisingly difficult to use a computer without depth perception :(

I'm going to assume that 90% of internet user posts are by people wearing eye patches now.

Shouldn't be long, the new pics are with Brad now, but it's been so long since anyone submitted art he's forgotten how his code works. I know the feeling, I had to use my own guide from '06 in the pv forum to re-learn how to format pics for the site :)

Oh and should mention I didn't cover baseball, hockey or basketball in this batch, just football and soccer, but I did do a ref, coach and cheerleader.
