Welp, I just started making comics yesterday, and some how I managed to put out a few. If you work in any kind of tech support or call center or both, you can prolly appreciate the few I've written. I'll be coming up with quite a few more I think. Although not nearly as witty as some of the ones here. I'm still learning and getting my style down, so feel free to browse my comics and tell me what you think.

If my comics don't show in the forum you can press here.

Lots of these are really good. It's funny because it's true.

Thanks you two.. I was looking at your comics.. both of you have great stuff. It makes me wonder how you guys do comics every day. Amazing, Im afraid Id run out of stuff to write about. Anyways.. thanks again for the comments.

We're always ready to welcome new talent, especially when it is actually talent. Don't believe what they say about how we treat newbies here. We react badly to people who do awful (and I mean awful) strips and act like they are really great and can't take constructive criticism.

Dave right in!

I ran out of ideas long ago. I don't know why I still make comics. ;) Actually, I had the same thought run through my head at about the middle of June... but joining the forums has kept the ideas stirring around for the most part. Notice that I don't usually do a comic every day (especially lately), but rather I just get inspired and write a lot at once.

Hmmm I think you're right. Im finding that if I tried to make one a day, I'd forget what it is I was going to write about. Inspiration kinda hits me in spurts. I guess that shouldnt surprise me.. its the same way with my writing.

A couple of work related comics. The first one is from my "excessive narration" period :P

I definately think Im in the "excessive narration" phase. I tend to like one cell comics quite a bit. Id prolly make alot of single celled if the ability to make multiple bubbles were present. I have to admit though, Im having a hard time not making some of the comics my own personal bitch fest. I thought of doing a whole bunch of kill binladen comics.. but Im not sure if they would be funny, to any except me. Plus Im sure people would think im just up on some soapbox.

Must... resist.. the urge...

anyway.. DexX, ummm errr Does gabe know?

DexX is nothing special in that regard. Thousands of men have spurted in Gabe's face. I think he's going for some kind of Guinness record.

What I like to do sometimes is take a background that looks continuous from one panel to the next, such as "Background2" or "Wall2" and treat the comic like it's one giant panel with 6 character slots and speech bubbles. Is that the kind of solution you're looking for?

Gabe enjoys it... but not as much as wirthling.

Speaking of inspiration hitting in spurts, I think after writing 11 comics yesterday, I'm probably out of ideas for the week. Yeah, youth today has no stamina.

Thats an awesome idea.. use two characters, maybe a solid black background for example and use varying heights (height one 2 and finally none. I might have to experiment with that. Great idea.. thanks

Nuki...

BTW, I appreciate you guys treating the newbie here fairly decent. without too many beatings..

When I first came here I started running comics as one continuous storyline, with one main character. Then I ran of ideas and used the name "Geniu$" to try a spin off cross-over series, but, it fell on it's arse, I tried for a while to do clever things with the comics, like use the asian girls, swap them over, make one big panel with 6 characters. Eventually the well was running dry, and I decided to pop in and take a look at the forums, see the comic contests, and it's opened the floodgates of inspiration again!

Or, you could try just being totally silly like I did with these comics that were pretty much sight gags.

The skeet shooting one inspired a bunch of people big time, and spawned a mini-cliche, so you'll see more than a few people with skeet shooting comics in their library.

Kajun is right about the comic contests... they're really what keep the comics coming out of me nowdays.

Drexle,

I gotta tell ya, I looked through the thread(s) that had a lot of those, and man, I laughed for nearly a solid hour. I was going to ask you if I could do a few of my own. If I think of something funny sometime tonight, Ill show you what I have in mind about the single panel, i experimented and it looked oki but its kinda tough to lay out.

No need to ask, just go to it... only problem is that for some reason use of the "Splat" graphic in new comics was disabled at the last update. Too bad... I like the thought of non-bloody things making a bloody splat when they're shot. And no need to get anyone's pre-aproval for ideas either, because you never know what's going to be wildly funny until it's out there for everyone to see. Just make sure that *you* think the comics you make are funny. If you're a funny person, they probably are, and if not at least you have the powers of self delusion to fall back on. :)

The only thing most people here ask is that if you get inspired by one of their strips, give them credit somehow when you post it. I don't think anyone asked max if they could parody "Cowboy Physics," and that's got to be the most heavily spoofed strip on this site.

I've been meaning to ask: does this Max know the cottage industry he spawned? he only has like 5 comics; was he on the forums at all?

I don't think he's ever been on the forums... I'm guessing that he was one of Brad's friends who helped him test the stripcreator in its earliest days, and never returned. Now that you mention it, I wonder if anyone ever told him just how big a meme his comic became?

I've never made a parody of Cowboy Physics, but I love it, and the fact that it was made by some guy who's probably totally unaware of how big the joke is, makes it a lot better.

We MUST track this guy down and show him how God-like he's become!

Skagg, thats about what I was going to do..

Have the Middle left and right set for props hieght1, the right first panel and left third panel set for height2 then the left first panel and right third panel set with a short char. That way it looks somewhat like two chars on one continous conversation. Maybe with a black background.
