Comic Cup VII: The Weakest Strip -- Rotor-Turbine League

The Tobor League and Pedantic League have now merged into the Rotor-Turbine League. Got that?

Okay, we’ve had some problems getting votes in a timely manner, (people seem to lose interest after they’ve been voted off) so I’m instituting a mid-game rule change, which is this:

  • Only those people who are submitting strips in a particular round get to vote in that round. The exception to this is the final round, in which everyone who has participated (submitted a strip in at least one round) votes for the winner.

I will continue to try and keep this page up-to-date.

The Rotor-Turbine League is:

  • andydougan
  • crabby
  • Kevin Keegans Perm
  • DexX
  • kaufman
  • kramer_vs_kramer
  • ladyjdotnet

The first comic rules for the next round will be posted shortly.

Round 4

Howdy, cowpokes! Ready to generate some gravitons... err… strips? Here are your rules, courtesy of the two folks you just voted off.

  • wirthing: The comic should take place at "Stripcreator University." Wacky shenanigans ensue.
  • Big Evil Dan: A character must be hiding behind a secret identity.

You have until midnight ET on Thursday to submit your strips. That would be about 48 hours. Ready… Set… Go!

Ow. What'd I ever do to you, KPP?

Okay, I did do "In Search Of Kevin Keegans Perm" -- but other than that.

Basically , aside from Kaufman , youre the best known regular without a catchphrase.

Plus , after all this time , Dexx still hasnt got a character up for you (although im assured its a work in progress).

And "In search of Kevin Keegans Perm" was good.

Lacked a punchline though.

And besides. I HAD to avoid the obvious Tobor joke.

I have 3/11 of one, doesn't that count for anything?

Since I withdrew, does this mean that I was never officially part of the contest?

am I excluded from voting in the big final?

I did enter a strip in the first round (2 actually), and I would like to vote, however, I DID cheat, and it would be quite hypocritical of me since I made such a song and dance about Bazilla voting me off from the Mystery Cup.

You submitted a strip in the first round, so you get to vote in the final. Technically, the only person who can't vote in the final is flickguy.

So, by the same logic, I guess I'm allowed to vote then?

Time to Vote!

You have 24 hours for your puny voice to be heard. Remember, you are voting for the worst strip.

Who will be expelled from Stripcreator University? Who is majoring in failure? Who has made The Weakest Strip?

Round 5

Hi there! Asiangirl3 here to kick off Round 5! I have nothing better to do since my evil sisters took over the limelight. I’m pretty talented, though… and unlike crabby, I’m a frequent fellator.

Anyway, on to the contest! Here is your rule, courtesy of the crabster!

  • When I am ousted from this competition, I feel you should require the remaining participants to write a strip based on SPACE FARMING ACCIDENTS!

There you have it. Entries are due Monday at midnight ET.

I'm very surprised I made it as far as I did. I was expecting to be voted out last round. I knew for sure I would be ousted this round because I was stripping with the cream of the crop and my comic was ass.

I quite liked LadyJ's comic but I had to vote for her since she got the ball rolling on my elimination. No hard feelings.

No, Jael made the doozy, but since she withdrew we won't be able to use it. Unless I'm missing a rule from someone, in which case I might toss it in.

Tough choice...

Can I just go on record saying I don't much like this cup format? I just think it's really negative, saying "I liked this one least". I prefer voting for the best strip, a positive action, saying "this is really good". *shrug*

Oh, and thanks for the kind words, LadyJ. :)

Hmmm... pretty bad day to have a nick that starts with "k."

On the plus side, using this format means the rules give more leeway. Normally the final rules are so restrictive as to make humour impossible. And I like the way all the contestants are kept involved in the game throughout. But I agree with DexX that voting for the worst comic is overly negative. I'm not sure how it would work, but perhaps we could retain this format in the next cup, except we vote for the best comic?
Ah well. We won't count our bridges until they're hatched.

Oh, and continuing the k-icide, I vote for kramer.

What's the fucking point in that?

The whole idea is that this all turns bitchy, like the program, trust me, for those who aren't in the contest, it's highly entertaining.
