Great series Drexle, I'm amazed that when reading it, I didn't really notice the fact that the lecturer was Santa Claus.

Hah, I needed an older man who was NOT Dr.P to play the part of the lecturer, and Santa was really the only good choice. I think it worked nicely, since it allowed me to insert wigurube as Gene Ray for a spur of the moment cameo.

After I posted that, I realized I didn't know anything about Gene other than what's on his site. So I did a little web searching. I don't know if this inspired Drexle's comic in any way -- but it turns out that Gene Ray was actually invited to speak at MIT this January 30th. Use your browser to search for the string "MIT" on his front page and you'll find a few references to it. Sadly, the event was only open to members of the MIT community. But here's a review from someone who went.
