according to Jim Kalb's Palindrome Connection this is a palindrome:

"Do good? I? No! Evil anon I deliver. I maim nine more hero-men in Saginaw, sanitary sword a-tuck, Carol, I--lo!--rack, cut a drowsy rat in Aswan. I gas nine more hero-men in Miami. Reviled, I (Nona) live on. I do, O God!"

I take it that full-length dissertation on palindromes which was itself palindromic is an urban myth, then?

I know at least one person wrote a fairly good sized book which was one big palindrome. But to the best of my knowledge it wasn't about palindromes.

I don't know... let's look at "palindrome" backwards: emordnilap. Kinda hard to get a word out of it, let alone incoporate it frequently enough for an actual essay about palindromes (or should I say "semordnilap").

Incidentally, wouldn't a palindromic novel always have to begin with the words "dne eht"?

I suppose this means that fairy tales can't be palindromes... "Retfa reve ylippah devil lla yeht dna..." vs "...emit a nopu ecno"... just doesn't work!

Yeah, and end with the words "eno retpahc".

Perhaps there's a synonym for palindromes that could be used instead?
