I'm at college using a G4 instead of my shitty home PC, so that rules out a software problem at my end. Well, it rules out THIS particular issue being caused by a software problem at my end, my PC however, is riddled with holes.

Well, I can only think of a couple of possibilities off the top of my head:

1. It's some sort of web proxy/caching issue with your ISP/network that causes refreshing to be delayed.

2. Occasionally it's taking 10 minutes for SC to add a message to the database.

#1 sounds more likely to me, just because the database has been screamingly fast and stable on this box and I've never witnessed this problem personally with my own posts. However, there sometimes is an insane amount of load so it's definitely not impossible funny stuff like that goes on and I just don't notice.

Well, I would have blamed my ISP straight away, and I actually did, until it happened at College. They have some sort of insane T1 broadband connection or something, not sure, but that's what made me think that, for once, Demon Internet weren't to blame.
