This is a new thing I am doing for the regs page. Basically, in the order you find them on the page, I will be running a couple of threads at a time for you people to nominate, and later vote for, what you consider to be each reg's best strips. This thread is for andydougan. There are no real rules here. If you feel like it, read through some or all of his strips and post a handful of your favourites to be nominated. In a week or so I will call for votes on the nominees, and the highest-voted will be included his entry on the regs page as "most popular strips" or something similar. Andy, feel free to suggest your own if you have favourites.

Go for it!

You know, for those of us who have strip counts in the hundreds, are you sure it's a good idea to impose no limits on how many strips can be nominated? DexX, you alone have nominated 27 of his 470-odd strips. Add that to the 16 nominations from the rest of us, and we're gonna have one big fucking list of nominees by the end of the week. At this rate, we'll be voting on...

((27+16)/2)*7 = 150.5 nominated comics

I'm done. I only posted so many because I read his whole archive. I'll be doing the same for chicka tomorrow, then asking for informal votes.

Okay all, voting begins... now.

It's pretty informal, just name (name only, do NOT repost the comics) as small a number of favourites from these as you can whittle it down to. If you have a particular favourite, I'll take a single double-vote from each person (ie. one vote that counts as two in the final tally). Then I will select the top three and link to them on the regs page.

Damn these are funny.

Double vote: Rite of passage
Single votes: Stripcreator o muerte, A poor reception

DexX, what are you going to call these on the regulars page? "Favorite strips"? "Popular strips"? My vote would be for "Classic strips".

Like evil_d, my double vote will be for "Rite of Passage."

And my single votes are for
"Poor Reception,"
"Cow Tools"
"That Allah, man. He's a hoot."

I think it's clear that Rite of Passage is by far the superior comic, but I also vote for 6 invisible men in adjoining phone booths, two with masks.

They both had me laughing for well over a minute solid.

I like a LOT of Andy's comics, and I've probably read his entire collection more than once, but my favourite has to be:

"The Final Truth".

however, since no-one else has voted for it, or at least, not that I've noticed, I'll go with:

"Rite of Passage" as my double vote.

I think "Rite of Passage" was definitely clever, but it didn't make me laugh. The one that did make me laugh was:

DoubleVote="A Poor Reception"

Honorable mention go to:
SingleVote="This one goes out to the one I love"

Bugger that stupid "real time" gag. I've applied my own votes to this one to get a neat top five (it would have been either a top three or a top seven, otherwise). The results:

Rite of passage: iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Stripcreator o muerte: iiiii
A poor reception: iiiii
Divine Comedy: iii
A Critic is Born: iii
Jesus at play: ii
Recursive strip: ii
Suffer The Little Children : ii
Cow Tools: i
That Allah, man. He's a hoot.: i
A critic is born: i
Clay sculpting classes in the netherworld: i
Hope the worst comic I'll ever make: i
Oscar One-Three: i
Oscar One-Four: i
Oscar One-Five: i
Better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied: i
A strip I'm going to post whenever a joke makes me groan: i
6 invisible men in adjoining phone booths, two with masks: i
ekamotreverofkootpirtssiht: i
The Final Truth: i
This one goes out to the one I love: i

Rite of Passage won! Who would have picked it?

I'll be putting links to these five, and chicka's five, on the regs page soon. Soon... yeah...

If it's not done in a week, remind me...

There's no time like the present DexX.

I'm looking forward to your next two selections for the "rate a fave." It gives me a good excuse to read the entire output of some of SC's finest.

(Those on my favorites page I have read all of your stuff. No one said Spankling had exclusive rights to masochism on SC?)
