Someone mentioned in IRC that they had noticed this too... Every one in a while, a thread I am viewing will not display comics, but will give me the red "click here to view strip" text. I only recall it happening with this thread, which has a deleted strip in it. Perhaps that is triggering it...?

I'm seeing the comics fine, just fine. When I log into Nost_Man I get the "click here" link things. Have you checked "edit account" to make sure you've got "Display comics in forums" on?

First thing I'd do is check your windows/cookies (or documents and settings/[username]/cookies) folder for multiple cookies. It's worth a shot.

If it's not that, next time it happens to you, try to check if the thread has a deleted comic in it. Are the comics posted in the thread before the deleted comic visible? What happens when you hit the "reload page with comics" link at the bottom?

Odd stuff.

Brad, it's been happening to me too a bit, in the CC 139 thread. The one thing I've noticed is it happens after I have added to the thread, used the "back" button a few times to get me back to the Comic Contests forum index (the first instance in my browser stack), then gone back in, either with the "forward" button, or reselecting the thread.

If I back completely out of the forum and reenter, the problem seems to clear itself up.

Other people have reported this too. It seems to have started when I added deleting, though I can't find any connection between the deleting and this bug. I just clicked around for about half an hour and wasn't able to get it to do it for me.

If anyone can work out any sort of pattern for reproducing the bug, that would be fantastic. If not, I was thinking about rewriting the forum comic displaying anyway.

On second thought, I think it happens to me when I'm in a forum thread, go to make a comic (to post into that thread), and then back-button back into that thread. So that's why you're not reproducing it, Brad -- you're not making enough comics :-)

But your saying that it arose with the delete feature you added seems to lend some credence to the idea that making a comic may set it off. Did you add some sort of flag on the comic side?

I think this might be it. I checked the code and it was definitely being a bit wacky when it was setting your showcomics cookie. Under many circumstances it could potentially become set to zero temporarily. It would then (seemingly randomly) fix itself.

The only thing that makes me suspicious is that I don't see how this could be connected with deleting at all. So if it continues to happen, let me know.

Thanks kaufman!
