I don't suppose I could trouble you to read some of my own creations, could I?

Terribly decent of you, I must say. I'm British, in case you can't tell: but from Scotland, so I have a hard edge. :>

http://www.stripcreator.com/view.php?author=duxcolonel&ID=86154 is the first of my efforts, I only just joined up today so there's only a few so far but I like to think they're vaguely amusing.

I should warn you, though most of you will no doubt expect it anyway, that there's some swearing in my comics: they're also a tad surreal, but don't worry, there's recurring characters and everything, it'll make sense eventually. ;-)

Hey, I'm not just a Scot, I'm a Scottish Student who's a member of his Union's board and has just been called for jury duty. I have a fucking appearance to keep, you bastard. ;-)

Anyway, I've added a few more strips to my collection (as of this point, about 24) so please give them a read and tell me what you think. I don't expect all my first works to be mastepieces, but I would like to check I'm on the right track. :>

i was going to say something about how the meta-comical thing is a bit played out and perhaps you should diversify more, but then i encountered this beaut:

...basically, then, the gist of what i have to say is that there are some hits and misses here, like most people (look at my first few), but by all means keep it up. and since apparently i've named myself the unofficial contest recruiter, cruise on over to the comics competitions forums and see what you can do with the CC rules...

Admittedly, I hadn't read many other strips when I churned this first bunch out, and now I've noticed more than one person has had the same meta-humour as me. But hey, I've kept the asian chicks out of it so far. :-) Stripcreator is a nice tool, but the limits on two characters and three frames (though split is a nice tool on occasion) does lead to the format being the butt of a couple of jokes. Now I know how Bill Waterson felt. :>

Well, thanks, I wasn't expecting anything truly amazing from my first batch but I like to think that some of my humour does actually click. And it's nice when friends of mine read it and said that the choice of "that guy in the Pac-man top" as the character who is me was a favourite of theirs. I'm very, er, retro. :-)

The one you mention is good, especially as I really did get a letter about that this morning, and I really am that young, but I quite like this one because I wish more comic strips and TV shows (especially soaps) had this sort of interlude.

As for the contest, I've noticed recruiting for it is very important in replying to a n00bz mail, so thank you for doing it for me. :>

Huh?

You mean DexX has already drawn a forumusers character of you and you've seen a decal on the back of a redneck's pickup truck depicting said character pissing on an automaker's logo?

COOL!

hee hee... i've always wanted to make a decal of calvin pissing on a decal of calvin pissing on a chevy logo, but i'm afraid said rednecks' brains would explode as they tried to comprehend it.

We don't have those pictures in any number over here in the Yu Kay, but when I'm in the US I do notice them about the place a bit, and I wish I could see one like yours. :>

Fuzzyman: Ta. All praise makes my somewhat small ego balloon astronomically, and it's a lovely feeling. Especially when it's from people who are funny.
