I don't know if anyone has suggested this before, or if it's possible, but I thought it'd be a good idea if there was a preview button sort of thing when saving the comic, like in the forums. Just to double check your comic or whatever before you hit save for sure.

Why not just LOOK at the comic and see if it's okay?

ass.

Or to put it another way, it'd be pointless. Post-previewing is useful because your posts look different in their final version from when you edit them. But your comics look the same when you make them as in the final version, so what use would a preview option be?

There is ONE way I can think of that they aren't (or weren't last I checked), though. I seem to remember that if narrations are too long, you'll see the whole thing in your preview, but after you save the strip, the narrations can be mysteriously truncated if they're too long.

But aside from that, yeah I agree... the preview option would be about as useful as a gaping chest wound. You'd have to be legally blind not to notice the one that's already there.

I think Brad may have fixed that one ...

Though I did find a case where preview would have helped. I was recently doing a comic that included some leet-speek in which some back-slashes were essential. It previewed fine, but in the posted version, the back-slashes didn't show (I'm not sure if the characters following each one were also lost). Since there was no other way to do what I was doing (a tribute to Al Hershfeld with a bunch of embedded "Ninas"), that comic got deleted and never rebuilt.

Non-sanctioned HTML tags won't show in the final comic either, although they'll show in the preview.

Any way to fix such problems, Brad?

A warning message somewhere on make.php that says something like "Don't use HTML; it won't work" might do the trick.

It's called laziness and trying to look "helpful".
