The eerily not much different forums are now online. Please let me know if anything is broken in them or in the rest of the site. I'll list some of the changes in a couple of minutes.

The main differences, once again, are under the hood. Here are some of the more interesting changes and additions:

- You can now only display a maximum of 5 comics per post. This is to cut down on the amount of bandwidth and server load in some of the huge-ass pages of comics kicking around. I may lower or raise this limit in the future. Any comics you post after the fifth one should be visible as links.

- Last poster field for threads. This has been a requested feature for a while and I kind of like it.

- Various cosmetic improvements. I think I fixed the double space issue with quote tags, which I'm pretty happy about.

- Sped up the forum index page considerably.

- Using CSS now all over the place.

- Centralized banning and hooray for that.

Also, probably lots more bugs. Please let me know if you find any.

Yeah, that was one of the things I got rid of because so many people use popup blockers now anyways. If you're using IE you can hold down shift and click on the link to open it in a new window.

No it's not. I've always wished it wouldn't do that. Thanks, Brad.

What was the problem, exactly? If it's what I'm thinking of, it looks like it's partly fixed.

User titles have gone, and in the "Jump to" thing the "--------------" things link to blank forums, not sure what they should link to, if anything.

Also, there's something horribly horribly wrong with JrnymnNate's post at the bottom of this thread, I mean, apart from the photo.

Also, the "Last Poster" links beside threads don't work if the last poster in that thread has a space in their nick.

I'm having a hard time explaining it. Basically there were often big gaps under the quote. I think there are still issues in certain circumstances but they should be easy enough to fix as I spot them. The post display script now strips extra carriage returns, as god intended.

Wait a minute... are you saying that I can't skip more than one line now?

...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. - When I previewed this, I got a whole bunch of "Parse error: parse error, unexpected ']' in /home/strip/stripcreator.com/forums/includes/messagebox.php on line 155"s instead of other people's posts. The problem went away on the third try.

Yeah. That was a good idea. The only thing is, if you hit enter twice after the quote, just like you normally would between paragraphs (and like I'm doing in this post), you still get an extra newline. Not that I have a problem with working around that like I've been doing.

But extra newlines between normal paragraphs are collapsed, it seems.

I put up a dedicated Brad Sucks forum thing over at www.bradsucks.net/forums

I'm not sure if I'll keep it that way or not, but having two forums seemed greedy somehow.

Is there any way to can make this happen for new threads but not old ones? It's totally killing the readability of series I'd posted in the past. I'd sometimes post 8 epidose at a time.

I think it got deleted to halt its rampant bandwidth consumption.

It got toasted. I don't remember if the comics were all deleted, but I know that if nothing else, the message was edited to remove all the comics in it very shortly after it was posted.

Here's the thread. It looks like the archived page did indeed get deleted. The base comics are still there.

I'll check out how difficult it would be to deal with allowing more comics for old posts soon.

ObiJo's animated comic got removed because it was killing the server both in load and bandwidth.

There seems to be a lot of double posting lately and I totally don't understand why. So I just put in a little bit of blocking. When you post now it checks to make sure your last post was saved more than five seconds ago. If it's less, your message will not be saved. I'm hoping this helps.

Old posts will now display the first eight comics. Hope that's enough. I can raise it if need be.
