When I log out, as I've done twice so far, once being by accident, I can't log back in without deleting the cookie. When I log out it says I'm logged in as "deleted" and only have the "Log Out" option and not log in. When I click "Log Out" it takes me back to the deleted account.
I'm walking around in circles lost and alone... I don't even know if I can post! HELP ME!!!

Addendum: As I was trying to post it realised deleted doesn't exist and gave me the "Log In" option back. Does that mean I have to spam the boards every time I want to log back in?

What version of IE are you using? And is anyone else having this problem?

It works on my PC using IE 6 under XP, it just seems to be on the laptop which is running *jogs upstairs briefly* the same version under Windows 2000

Sorry I took so long, I got distracted by Japanese students, I can see right into their bedrooms if i hang out of the window at an uncomfortable and precarious angle

dcom was complaining about this on the Fights section too.

dcomposed seems to be having a different problem.

Have you checked for duplicate Stripcreator cookies on the laptop?

Oh, actually, I'm susceptible to dommiel's problem. When I log off, sometimes my name turns into "deleted" also.

What used to happen was that a cookie was being saved whenever you post which would log you in automatically. But I guess Brad took it out because of my complaints about security issues.

Sorry, dommiel.

Um, sorry, but one more thing. I think dcom has part of this problem. He can't log in simply by posting anymore, and if his name is "deleted," he won't get the "log in" link.

I don't know about his double-posting though.

Ah, not to worry. I'll try not to log out ever again.
No Brad, I only had the one cookie which I deleted. I dunno if a restart would have done the job, my laptop usually just goes into hibernate.

And Devin, I notice since my last post you've been lounging in front of the window more frequently...

I don't understand how usernames could be changed to 'deleted'. There is absolutely no place where I do that in any script. Even if you're banned or deleted it won't do that. Hmm.

I modified the log out script slightly. Try it out and see if it makes a difference.

Also, when you wind up logged in as "deleted" and close all instances of IE and look at your cookie, is comic_user set to 'deleted'?

Some other things:

1. Make sure that when you delete your Stripcreator cookie that you close all instances of IE first. If you delete it while IE is still running, it will just write another one to the disk.

2. Try clearing your cache. I don't know why this fixes so many problems but it seems to.

What's the status on this? Did anyone try my suggestions? Is this 'deleted' account thing still happening?

I didn't try it out. So far I'm logged in at home and not logged in at school, which is fine.

No, it's still not working. Oh well, I'll just avoid logging out. Now if you'll excuse me, I just need to delete my cookie

What exact version of IE are you running?

I read about various issues with IE SP1 last night while trying to help dcomposed with this issue.

How exact do you want? IE 6.0.26 on XP.
