I Suppose this qualifies as reason enough to keep me from:

a) playing with background positioning.
b) playing around on stripcreator after midnight.
c) there is no c.
d) listening to bad parody songs by Weird Al.

Your comics are top notch. Great. I love 'em. A+. I don't know what else to say. Make more!

It depends how you parse it. He's certainly parodized some bad songs.

THAT'S NOT HIS!

I only found out like last week. It turns out that people have been mistakenly attributing songs to him! I came across these two sites talking about it:

http://www.com-www.com/weirdal/notbyal.html
http://free.house.cx/~eil/etc/notal.html (the list: http://free.house.cx/~eil/etc/notal_list.html )

Also, if you check the official Weird Al site, you'll find that the song never shows up on the archives.

I'm saddened that he didn't write "Will the Real Slim Shady Please Shut Up" and "Which Backstreet Boy is Gay" but relieved that he didn't do the Clinton-bashing songs or the Chinese restaurant stuff (Combo Number 5, Cat's in the Kettle, etc.).

Combo #5 was funny but only an idiot or someone who doesn't know Wierd Al very much would think that it was his.

Did I mention that Chaly's comics are awesome?

not_Scyess: Thanks for the compliments :)

and regarding the Cats in the Kettle song: I downloaded it online and it had W. Al's name attached, so my mistake for not double-checking the source of the inspiration. argh.

It's sad that most of these songs don't even sound like him. It's like people think he's the only person doing song parodies out there. :-P

It's funny, but in the "Ask Al" archives, Al says the biggest problem he has with Napster is the songs being mistakenly attributed to him.

And yes, I call him Al, because "Yankovic" is much harder to type, and I'm lazy. He can call me Betty, if he wants. My name isn't Betty, by the way. That's a reference to a Paul Simon song. I really liked that video. I have "'Weird Al' Yankovic: The Videos" on DVD, but it just has Weird Al videos, not Paul Simon videos. Of course, if it had Paul Simon videos as well, they'd probably have to change the title of the DVD. And maybe charge a little more. They don't make that DVD anymore, and it's selling pretty good on eBay. Not that I'd ever part with it. I've got UHF on DVD, too. The commentary track is pretty funny. Al spends most of the movie making fun of his own acting.
There I go, calling him Al again...

But have you seen the episode of AL-TV (probably the one when Polka Party had recently come out) in which he plays the YCCMA video and explains how it was a parody of a song he wrote, called You Can Call Me Paul?

"YMCA" was a parody?!? That explains a lot..

I just figured the Village People were gay or something.
