Greetings,

This is the start of the "Job interview" series in Era, the comic,
and it will be called this until I get a copyright infringement lawsuit in the mail.

This is my first post on the forums, though I've been a dweller for quite some time now. Though my comics are nowhere as good as Scyess's, or Firefly's series, I'm hoping SOMEONE can catch interest in them. The series aren't awfully original, but when something's built on real life this much and have been made into a continuous story, they seldom are!

Please, give me feedback / some replies, whether it is to give me praise, critique, approval or cryogenically frozen doughnuts. I'm hungry for critique and critisizm - it's the best way to get better, not to mention I can take it. I don't believe my comics are all that good, but I'm hoping to improve.

Take a gander - My first comic starts here
- or or click here to go to the job interview series.

----------------------
Note: The following is a bundle of ramblings,
and is only meant for those especially interested,
meaning me, for the most part. Feel free to skim
through, however.

The cast:

Stee - A life-loving gamer who prefers living in the moment to thinking ahead.
Awfully original, I know, so I added this: He also wants to be an airplane pilot,
and he's norwegian. Take it or leave it.

Dill - "Invasion of privacy" is an unknown phrase to Dale,
but everyone loves his witty remarks and snappy comebacks anyway.
Amateur programmer. Has more aces up his sleeve than he lets out,
and is smarter than he appears. No, seriously!

Hal - An inventor of sorts; at times appears to have the brain capacity and
idea database of HAL 9000 from "2001: A Space Odyssey", but lacks the common sense
to not act on it. Would take a hammer apart to see how it worked if possible.
Freelance... something or other.

Lis - An artist who makes a decent living off her drawings and artwork.
Elisa has the ability to be more interesting than computer games to Stee,
though she's not sure if she should take that as a compliment or an insult.

Stace - Stacia drops by from time to time, and is another close friend to Stee.
Feminist, philosopher, atheist, author, hard worker, and cat person,
who studies and works at a theatre not far from there. Immensely open minded.

Candy - Stee's closest online friend who shares his interests
in almost every way. As far as games are concerned, the only thing
Stee seems to enjoy more than playing Diablo II is playing Diablo II with Candy.

Bert - Ex-roommate who moved out shortly before we join our heroes
in their daily adventures - Who knows where he went off to.
The first time Stee met Bert, Stee exclaimed "MY WORLD IS A CROTCH!"
for reasons unknown to most, and this became Bert's catch phrase not long after.

You're still reading this? I am amazed. As far as the script goes - I won't lay off the video game specific jokes completely, but I'm going to keep them to a minimum, since not everyone gets them.

P.S. I talk too much.
P.P.S. Scyess, Firefly, & more; don't stop writing!

I would be, too... if I had bothered to start reading it in the first place.

I think your comics are pretty good. You've either done this before or read plenty of comics in your day. I like your series, especially the last one.

I'm curious which of the punchlines you borrowed, as per your profile.

Curious about the borrowed punch lines? Well:

- Era I, got the idea from the online strip "Real Life." This is pretty much what got me started on my comic.
- Era VII, which is labelled "Apologies to Xeno" - Part inside joke, part joke, period.
- Era VIII, also from "Real Life", mainly because I needed a runner up to to "Era IX."

- Era XVII is a reference to the webcomic Sluggy Freelance. In my series, a person named Bert was Stee and Dill's roommate or whatnot for a while. Stee, being a fan of Sluggy Freelance, upon meeting Bert for the first time instantly quoted the character named "Bert" from Sluggy, and it became Bert's catch phrase in my comic because of this. Complicated, but you asked.

- The other punch lines are mine, but I won't guarantee they've not been used before, or won't be used again. When dealing with "real life" type comics it's hard to avoid these things.

Oh, and heh, thanks for your interest.
I've enjoyed your comics for a long while,
so it's nice to hear from you.

Era, away!

interesting, not my usual brand of coffee but not bad, more forthcoming I hope. And anyone who makes a dune ref is ok in my book.

You people are excellent at giving feedback, do you know that? :D {/sarcasm}

TheGovernor; you're lucky I haven't swarmed my strips with Dune references by now.

Is using two comics like this a good idea? Does it illustrate Stee's slight interest on the matter well? Any comments to a newbie on comics that are laid out like this? I have the entire scene in my head, but getting it down in Stripcreator is harder than it looks.

Pick one or more questions and reply, because cripes, you people are lazy!

Um, I don't get the comics. Sorry!

Oh, and we're not lazy; a lot of people stopped reading the RMDC forum because most of the new people who post their comics here suck suck suck suck suck suck suck and suck.
