Some kind of rating system would be really cool, like if you could rate that person's comics out of five or ten, and then they would get a rating based on the average, on how good thier comics are. Unless it would totally kill bandwidth and then it wouldn't be so cool any more.

I have been giving more and more thought to putting one of these back in, though I'm not quite sure if it's worth it.

What if you did a ranking system like google, that ranked people based on the number of other strippers who linked them. You could maybe use date and activity of the accounts linking them to weed out people making fake accounts to up their rating.

I think a rating system would be keen.

My opposition to reimplementation of a rating system is abating, especially if it would turn out to be a convenient non-confrontational way for the community to tell people they suck. Just do it right this time!

Perhaps you could rig it to where only registered user's votes are the ones that count for an actual score that's displayed to the public? Votes cast by non-registered users could be delivered to the individual user, but not displayed. This would prevent people from cheating on their ratings to boost themselves up or tear someone else down.

Additionally, perhaps each registered user could only set one vote per strip, but that vote could be changed at the user's whim?

Make it so that you have to vote with your name (no votes unless you're logged in) and let people see who voted how.

And if we only allow the author to see the rating of his/her comics, that should take care of any of that rating boosting/killing problem.

See, I'm new at this and never knew that there was a rating system. It would make sense if you had to log in, for obvious reasons. Newgrounds has a good rating system, from what I've seen.

If comics were only allowed to be rated from random.php, then cheating goes down the shitter, but I'm not sure if anyone would want to be able to do so from anywhere else, or if anyone even wants some form of high score list at all. Just throwing out ideas.

ooh, ooh, and make it where, like, when I vote and stuff, the uh, the uh, good ratings symbol appears as one of the, uh, asian girls, and the bad rating symbol is, errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........., Tobor--yeah.

OOH, and whenever I ping Brad on IRC, make him bring me a pizza!

Come on, people, give Brad a break.

I don't need brad to program a new ratings system to know how awesome I am.

You post comics, people tell you that you're awesome, end of story.

Although, I have become more aware of my awesomeness since the PM system became available, so I'm not necessarily against the idea.

I don't think it'd be an issue of how awesome people are. Like the internet, stripcreator has a bunch of crap on it, and it'd be a good filtering system for the stuff that isn't crap for new users.

It would be cool if Stripcreator could have a list of the top rated strippers and/or comics, too.

Ha! I'm so awesome, I don't even BOTHER to post comics!

But really, it's because I'm afraid of rejection.

Oh my god, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO! If you do that, there'll be LOTS of incentives for rating abuse!

I think I can make a system that's much better than the previous crappy one, but it's always going to be vulnerable to abuse. I can't stop people from making multiple accounts so it's unlikely I can stop people from boosting their ratings artificially.

You could make it weight votes by how many comics each user has made at the time of the voting, under the theory that people that make comics know comics.

Make the ratings private so only the author can see them.

Then insert a top 50 comics page, and only put my comics on it.

What if you take the motive out of cheating the system? Just make it possible to sort things by a few criteria.

Maybe by "most comics made"
And by "linked to the most number of people"
And I don't know maybe "alphabetical order"
And maybe by date of account created

So it's all quantitative and not qualitative.

The only people who would be think about cheating the system are these complete freaks who count their number of posts and love getting comics that end in all zeros or are perfect squares or whatever. And if they need to try and get the most number of comics posted..well..isn't that so sad that it would be cruel to take that fun away from them?

btw congratulations to boinky33 for getting to 1000 comics!

It would be cool to have a "Most Favoritest Strippers" list, which would be strippers listed by the number of favorites lists they're on. Still subject to cheating, but maybe you could weed the cheats out by inactivity.

To be honest, I don't think it really matters how people tell me and their friends that I'm awesome, just that they do.

I bought billboards along I-80, took out radio ads, and paid a skywriter to write "Kajun Firefly is awesome" over Biloxi, Mississippi

My two cent opinion (one cent for each month i've used this site)is that I don't really care where I would rank, but I truly enjoy someone complimenting me in a forum or PM.

All a rating system would convince me of is that I'm a misunderstood genious. (insert emoticon here)
