Not bad, actually. Lacking in a certain punchline sharpness. They made me smile, but really made me truly laugh, though.

Not necessarily; it depends on the emphasis he wanted to make with his statement.

"None" subdivides WHELTON's body of work into individual comics, and suggests that no such comic had what it took to get fuzzyman to laugh. Extra points go to fuzzyman for wording it in such a way that he had no chance to make the grammatical faux pas of misguessing whether "none" takes a singular or plural verb form.

PS: The comma after "grammar" in Kajun's reply is incorrect; either a semicolon should be used, or a period (in which case, "Never" would need to be capitalized.

"Never" inserts a temporal element into the presented argument, and suggests that fuzzyman read the comics over and over again, or at least over a period of time, and not once during that period did the comics succeed in making him laugh.
