OK folks, I was going to make a competition where comics had to be palindromes, or where you weren't allowed to use the letter 'e' but on second thoughts those sounded crud and no fun, and I couldn't be arsed with that.

It's 34° here in the UK- I'm sweating so much I've stuck to my chair and our head programmer is only wearing his boxers, making him look like some bastardised version of boorite. I can't wait until I am on holiday, at the Reading music festival, chugging cold beers and rocking out.

So, the theme for this CC is The Summer and everything exciting that you can think of that summer means to you.

Rules and guidelines:

  • Series are very welcome
  • Old strips are permitted.
  • Photoshopped entries are very strongly encouraged
  • No cliches please.

Bonus jes points for working in :

  • Summer where you are.
  • Music festivals, the Stripcreator CD swap or anything to do with new music.
  • The usual Jes_stuff: stupid made up words, absinthe, running jokes, etc. You know what cracks me up.

Lastly I'm allowed to enter my own comics (I think you miss half the fun of a CC when you can't enter your own) but obviously I won't pick myself to win...

Judging is some time over the weekend, probably Sunday morning. Go for it, summer fans.

This is a remake of a very old comic I made. I didn't use the old one because it sucks.

yah, i know, this isn't really what summer *means* to me, but i thought it would be funny to respond to what jes_ said about the temperatures in the UK. plus, everyone here has this elitist kind of attitude when it comes to dealing with the heat.

I've been shamed into revealing that I *ahem* "borrowed" that punchline from here:

All props should go to the very talented Rik May, my old CompSci buddy back when I was just a fledgeling code bodger and amateur drunk at uni, who needs to get his ass in gear and get a SC account!
Back when I first joined SC, all my strips were reworks of, or based on, Pointless Drivel. Thankfully now I am so much more. Thanks Rik - get an account!

All strips so far have been firing, this is going to be a bugger of a contest to judge...keep it up.

CC 203 is now over, the UK record breaking temperatures of Saturday having been replaced by the more typical British weather this morning, i.e. a thunderstorm that flooded my new house, which was why I am late judging this.

In the end it was a very clear cut decision, but first to some comics I liked:

attitudechicka: Summer in Indy - Funny coz it's true.

mmyers: Summer is the time for festivals - KKKKK.What more to say? And the Mind over Matter two-parter: I am so going to be that beer guy later this month...

bargaintuan: Too Hot - "I think the roof of my mouth is sweating" Bonus points for a funny line.

kaufman: Mid-Atlantic summer of 2003 in review.

illyanadmc: Summer in Tucson. Yes,one weekend of 37°C is nothing compared to Arizona!

On to the Top 5:

Ewwwww
156561

Cutting.

Rabid_Weasle:
165979
Great series.

In third place is UnknownEric:
165890
I'm a big fan of the Undertones. Super bonus points for being a music geek!

Runner up was
dcomposed for his epic Photoshop series - this one might have won on its own, and had there been less nudity in the series, it probably would have won.

But the winner, for taking the theme of summer, extending it a bit and turning humour on its head in the process, then making me clap in appreciation is Chi_The_Cynic

165968

Chi - I pass the torch. CC 204 is all yours.

I'm taking a well-deserved summer break from Stripcreator for a week or so to move into my new house properly and enjoy what passes for summer over here. Thanks to everyone who entered, see you on the flip-side.

Some omissions:

  • I forgot to say how much I love dcom's Asian girls. The frowning one is awesome.
  • I forgot to honourably mention umfumdisi for his Photoshopped entry and blatant attempt at ingratiation in "Stripper Vacations?" Consider yourself honourably mentioned, sir.
  • buffylavalamp's strip made me look up Lillith Fair. I see what you mean...

Right, that's it from me for a week or so. Happy cycling.
