Welcome to Comic Cup X. It's like Comic Cup 10, only with the sheer coolness of the letter X.

Here are the rules for each round:

1. I will post the names two (or in the first round, three) players and a set of rules. Each player will post a comic that compies with said rules.

2. The deadline for submission will normally be 48 hours, execpt when the deadline lands on a weekend. In that case the deadline is Monday evening, EST. Failure to submit a comic in that time means you forfiet. (If you really need an extension, let me know in advance.)

3. Immediately after all of the entrants have posted a comic, all of the other players get to vote for the winner of the round. Only people who are entered in the cup may vote. Voting lasts 48 hours according to the rules outlined above. If there's a tie at the end of this period, I cast the tiebraking vote.

4. The winner advances on to a future round. The loser(s) stick around and vote.

5. Have fun. I mean it. If you're not having fun I WILL PUNISH YOU!

Due to the number of entrants, most of the first set of rounds will be three player matchups.

ROUND 1: dcomposed vs. kaufman vs. Trippingbillie

Rule: You must use the names of at least three professional sports teams in your comic.

And so it begins. You have 48 hours.

dcom's "nads hanging out" made me laugh; however, the Gamecocks and Crimson Tide are not professional sports teams.

And even though American college football players receive perks and gifts, have their education paid for, hardly ever have to go to class, and are treated like stars in their city/state, they are considered amateur athletes. (Can you tell I hate the NCAA?)

Give him a break, he's Australian. He should get extra points for knowing all those U.S. college teams
(can you tell I'm jumping up and down because I got my football season tickets today?).

All Blacks = New Zealand Rugby team. Not Australian, not austrailian rules.

But then you probably knew that.

Yeah, I was just too lazy to Google any ARF teams.

I do like the All-Blacks, though. They're one of the few rugby teams I've seen on TV here in the states. FoxSportsSouth broadcasts only about three shows/year at such odd times that I end up seeing maybe one match.

Anyway, my vote is for dcomposed. He gets bonus points for using Dick Trickle--a professional race car driver--so I can forgive the college thing.

I didn't think it was unusual that dcom would know about Nads! I, personally, gave him bonus points for knowing the name of a pretty obscure NASCAR racer while living in Australia.

The only reason Dick Trickle gets any pub is because of his name--he wasn't that great a driver.

Sheesh. Give dcom a break. Even though he fudged the rules a bit, the fact that the strip was as hilarious as it was, evens it out.

So my vote is for him.

I don't think dcom's comic should be disqualified, especially since it uses some really obscure stuff. The point is to be challenged, and using NCAA team names is harder, if sillier. But, uh, for the sake of competition, ignore me!

Well dcom is up by one and, while we still have an outstanding vote, the best we could hope for is a tiebreaker which I would give to dcomposed anyway. And so we have our first winner.

ROUND 2: niteowl vs. not_Scyess vs. jes_lawson

RULE: Each panel of the comic must have less words than the panel before it.

Comics are due by Tuesday night. Go go go!
